Morales on being a mom

The Hoboken Reporter sits down with MSNBC/NBC News anchor Natalie Morales — and mostly talks about Natalie being a mom.

Chris Wallace: “I could not be happier”

Chris Wallace on the hypothetical ‘if you’d stayed in broadcast a few more years, you could be an anchor!’:

‘’Has it ever crossed my mind?'’ says Wallace, … “Sure, it’s crossed my mind. A lot of things cross my mind. It also crosses my mind why I’m not the center fielder for the Boston Red Sox. But I could not be happier than doing what I’m doing . . . If somebody came to me tomorrow and said you could be the anchor of a broadcast network or the host of Nightline, I’d say, `Thank you very much, I’ve got a job.’ I think this is a great place to work.'’

The article also says Fox News “recently” eclipsed CNN in the ratings. Recent how? Recent in a Jurassic-sort of sense — or recent like Easter was recent. FNC’s been at the controls of this ratings ship for kind of a long time now…

Another “cable news is filth” commentary

This time, Paul Campos of Scripps Howard News Service does the honors

To wit:

Thus it came to pass last weekend that, instead of spending precious air time covering, say, the battle over the future of Social Security, cable news devoted most of its resources to its two favorite story lines: Celebrity Justice, and Photogenic White Girl in Distress (PWGID).

The piece is a commentary — and that’s fine. But shouldn’t he be putting his energy in to counter-balancing all this “junk” by writing about something important?
