Thursday’s Numbers…
Here are Thursday’s numbers…a wee bit late (hey, occasionally I actually have to do work at my job). And a not great day it was for CNN. Its sibling network decided to knock it around a bit. HLN beat CNN in both the Daytime and Primetime Demo and came dangerously close to beating it for Prime Time flat out. Grace beat Zahn again. Larry King was flat as was Cooper. FOX beat the competition combined in everything except the Total Day Demo. MSNBC didn’t do too bad for itself. Countdown, Hardball, and Scarborough were all over the 300,000 mark and The Situation had an above average evening.

just a suggestion you might want to think about when posting the numbers; maybe there should be some kind of symbol used when any show has a substitute host/hostess.

Totally agree! O’Reilly had a sub last night. Last week I think you indicated when there was a sub host for Greta.

But many thanks for posting the numbers. I wait every day for them. THANKS!!!!!
Comment by Colorado — July 29, 2005 @ 8:33 pm
Yeah…normally I do but I was rushed today and didn’t have time to check for subs.
Comment by Spud — July 29, 2005 @ 9:00 pm
Why bother with indicating who had a sub or didn’t. Does it really matter? Each show should stand on its own merrit.

Nancy Grace beats all of CNN primetime!! I bet the folks at CNN HLN and FOX are laughing their pants off! I know it was just 1 night but she usually beats most of it anyway. Any bets to how much longer Klein will be around?

Nancy Grace is getting great ratings, I think she will break the one million mark very soon.

In a perfect world, yeah. But not in this case. Too many cable news programs are keying off the personality and demeanor of the host. The O’Reilly Factor never equals its normal numbers when a sub is in. People tune in to see O’Reilly pontificate. Other shows though are less dependent on the host. Hardball, for example, tends to have its ratings rise and fall depending on what’s going on in politics rather than whether Mathews is on or not. If nothing much is going on politically Hardball tends to trend lower even if Mathews is on.

Wow…what’s with that Donny Deustch number at 10pm…a lot higher than usual

Nancy Grace had another tremendous show tonight. I’m wondering if she passed the million mark.

^^^
Don’t know if she will make the million mark, but close to it. She needs to haul her butt down to Aruba do some prying around. She did really good investigating during the Peterson trial.

What prying around is there to do? I followed her during the Peterson trial but she is losing me. Whi’s in charge?

Donny Duetch had the Tuttle family from American Chopper on there. Thats why the ratings were so high compared to the usual.

I think that if Showbiz Tonight was replaced by a higher rated show, it would help Nancy’s ratings.
Comment by Clark Kent — July 30, 2005 @ 3:41 pm
I’ve noticed Shobiz gets higher ratings on the rerun. Perhaps people aren’t warming up to Karen Bryant? I watched it a couple of times when Brooke Anderson was hosting.
Comment by Terance — July 30, 2005 @ 4:34 pm
Make Showbiz a half hour and create a sports show to fill the other half.
Comment by anonymous — July 30, 2005 @ 6:15 pm
That sounds like a good idea to me. Does CNN even have a sports show anymore? I know they have the updates, it seems like a long time ago they had one.
Comment by Terance — July 30, 2005 @ 8:57 pm
They used to have one called “Sports Tonight” and it aired on CNN at 11PM I think or was it 10? There also used to be a network called: CNN/Sports Illustrated. The network was canceled after 9/11.

A sports news show would be great!
