Grudge match?

The Washington Post’s John Maynard frames the Carlson/Cosby switch in terms of a Stewart/Carlson rematch and includes a rehash of the Crossfire incident….

Beginning Aug. 8 at 11 p.m., MSNBC’s “The Situation With Tucker Carlson” will go mano a mano with Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” hosted by Stewart, who last fall called Carlson a rude term for a portion of the male anatomy.

Their on-air spat began when Stewart took advantage of an appearance on CNN’s now-disbanded “Crossfire” to scold Carlson and co-host Paul Begala.

  1. It should be interesting to hear what Jon has to say. I wonder if he’ll throw a punch at MSNBC while he’s at it.

  2. I’d like to point out, that in TVNewser’s most recent ratings post, there was little more than a one-third drop (119,000) as Olbermann’s Countdown segued into The Situation. Now, with the PM slot, Carlson will lead into the Countdown rebroadcast at midnight EDT.!

I also must observe, that there’s been no acknowledgment of Carlson’s show on Right blogs I regularly visit.

    Any thoughts?

  3. Carlson isn’t considered a “real conservative” by “real conservatives”. He’s like what Joe Lieberman is to the liberal wing of the Democratic Party.
He’s what the mainstream media considers an “acceptable” conservative…sort of like David Brooks. That’s why you don’t see much talk about Carlson on right wing blogs. Unlike say, when Alan Keyes had a program on MSNBC. I’d see references to Keys’ program all the time on Free Republic.

  4. Ugh. Why Kaplan hired this clown in the first place is beyond me. I’ve tried a bunch of times to watch, but find myself bored to tears…not to mention his sever lack guests.

Unless Jon Stewart goes off the air, he’ll pull in more viewers than Tucker from this point on.

  5. Think. MSNBC hires all the rejects from FNC and CNN. Monica Crowley comes to mind. I bet the Home Shopping Network gets more viewers than Carlson does.
