Scarborough goes on hiatus. Sort of..

Joe ScarboroughRadio&Records.com noted today that Westwood One announced that Joe Scarborough’s radio show is going on hiatus and will be re-launched in January 2006. ICN is not sure how, if it all, this development will impact the ratings of his MSNBC show. Will more people tune in to see him now that he can’t be heard on radio? Or is the hiatus an indication of poor ratings which means that demand for Scarborough is on the wane which could signal a future downturn in his TV ratings?

  1. Not to be too cynical, but I would have to say that I would agree with the latter. People are just not as excited about him anymore…ratings are ratings.

  2. I have no knowledge of his radio show, but his TV show’s numbers continue to rise!

  3. It used to be Scarborough had a loyal audience that tuned in to get his take and that of his guests on the political stories of the day. That steady audience has eroded as SC continues to become more of an Abrams/Greta clone. Now his numbers go up (or down) depending on how hot the latest missing person or murder mystery story is that day. At least that’s my theory.

  4. Post #3: You are right regarding the content of Joe’s show.
I admit that I miss the political exchanges he used to have with guests. This chasing after the dead and missing seems so exploitave to me. I watch Fox continually but switched over to Joe during the nine o’clock hour(central time) when Greta became an ambulance chaser. Oh, well….
