No press release has gone out but MSNBC and NBC today announced that Chris Jansing will be anchoring the shuttle return coverage on MSNBC Monday starting at 4 am EST. Jansing will be anchoring from New York, Jim Cummins will be reporting from Johnson Space Center in Texas, and Tom Costello and Jay Barbree will be reporting from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. ICN will not be live blogging this event. I can get up at 3:30 am PST and function. 1 am? That’s another story. I’m a space freak but not an insane space freak…

UPDATE: WHAC found the link to the whole B&C article. Miles O’Brien will be reporting from Florida with Carol Costello in New York. ICN wonders what happens if the shuttle has to divert to Edwards as it has had to many times in the past? Miles will end up being in the wrong spot. But the chances are an Edwards landing won’t be necessary.

No word yet on what FOX will do. If they stay true to form and use the anchors that happen to be on the air at the time as they apparently did previously (first shuttle launch attempt occurred during the middle of Studio B…2nd occurred during John Scott’s shift), then that would mean the FOX and Friends crew will be covering it, though it isn’t known whether any of them will be in Florida or they’ll do what MSNBC is doing and stay in New York.
