Thursday’s Numbers
FOX beat CNN 2:1 in Total Day and 3:1 in Primetime with each FOX Primetime show having more than 2.3 million viewers. MSNBC came close to reclaiming 3rd place from HLN in Total Day. And what’s going on with The Situation starting to show signs of life? It had been averaging 150,000 viewers but the last couple of days its viewer total has gone significantly higher. That Deutcsch number isn’t a typo. He only had 40,000 total viewers.

Have we ever thought that the FOX numbers may be skewed since they provide them half the time? I just get amazed they get this much in viewership.

And this ratings update is brought to you by the Focks Snooze Channel.

I don’t know if they are skewed but once this Holloway mess is over, Greta’s #s will go back down into the 1.2-1.7 range. CNN and/or MSNBC would have a press release or something I would hope since they get the #s from Nielsen also.

Comments 2-3: A classic case of blaming the messenger for the “bad” news.
Spud: To be totally accurate, it should be noted in the ratings that Hannity and Colmes had one sub host: Bob Beckel in for Colmes. At least Beckel has experience with a debate type show; Kirsten Powers, who subbed for Alan earlier in the week, was totally lost.

I think Greta’s numbers may be even lower when the Holloway mess is over. Viewers she’s picked up will leave, and those of us who used to watch won’t go back. At least I won’t. The same could be said for H & C.

The Fox Snooze numbers have been much higher than CNN’s sleeping most of the time numbers for several years now. It seems that snoozing is much better than sleeping.

I am not media savy, but I do wonder where the Fox ratings come from. I am a liberal, however, I would be willing to watch a program that is not obviously biased. I am turned off by any program that gives viewers their biased opinions rather than report the news accurately. They leave out important facts that have already been reported by other news programs. Their anchors/reporters come from the school of opinion anchors/reporters and they do not “give me all the angles”, and let me make up my own mind. Fox is trying to tell me how to think and that is a complete turn off for me personally. If you watch Fox, according to their numbers, I would assume that you have a closed mind with no interest in anything except politics with a very biased view. This is just my opinion. Judy

I watch multiple networks. That’s my idea of all angles. I don’t watch anything with politics.

Believe me I know some folks who watch FNC religiously and the channel fits their personality to a tee. They don’t wanna hear what you have to say and is always ready to fight with words over nothing. Very hateful people indeed and nothing but a snobs!

it’s time to merge cnbc with msnbc. don has a terrific show which may actually fare better late night after the situation, and an entire one hour block could be devoted to business in the afternoon.

A full-out merger with CNBC would never ever happen…perhaps the news divisions could merge, but the actual channels themselves would never merge. There’s no way NBCU is going to let CNBC’s prestige (in terms of ad rates) wear down with MSNBC’s name. That would be an awful mistake. Besides, quite frankly, they should just shut down MSNBC altogether. CNBC, while it’s ratings might be slightly lower overall, beats MSNBC handily during the day (especially the afternoon - till 7pm), and is very profitable for NBCU (much more so than MSNBC).

Judy:
And I wholeheartedly agree. Hopefully, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC will change their way of reporting in the future.
Judy: On second thought, maybe it is time for you to leave the “stage.” I hate when foreigners comment on American media issues that they only know from left wing blogs and websites.
