Friday’s Numbers…
Friday was a downer pretty much for everyone. Everyone was down to some extent. FOX had O’Reilly, Hannity, and Van Susteren all off. Cooper and Zahn, which were canned, were very flat for CNN. Cosby dropped down…Scarborough Country beat her (ICN heard that Cosby scratched during her 11 PM PST repeat). Countdown was low man on the MSNBC primetime totem pole. The Situation Room continues its sideways movement in the ratings since it debuted…not going up and not going down…hey I just realized…The Situation Room did better than Cooper and Zahn did. Ouch…

I have read a lot of people on here saying PNT is (mostly) canned. I have noticed quite a bit of canned stuff on news shows these days. I’ve been watching it since it debuted and, it does have some live interviews. Otherwise its recaps of stuff thats been on CNN/HLN during the day. (from what I can tell) I don’t watch that much CNN as it is (I do watch HLN) so, I guess it could be considered a recap show. Anyways, I think Erica Hill does a great job on there.

Canned or not, the show beat Rita Cosby by 2,000 viewers.

I usually watch AC360, but Friday’s show was not live and was just a package of stories that they’ve already aired.

Same way with PZN, just a re-aired security watch “special”. No wonder CNN gets crap ratings.

CNN has so many re-runs they must not be concerned with ratings. JS

You hit the nail on the head Judy. CNN must be crazy to think that canned security specials and weight loss stories will attract more viewers than a FNC program. If the hosts couldn’t be there than why not get a reporter or another anchor?

carrie - you’re SO right, fox’s most popular hosts were out on Friday and the substitute hosts for O’Reilly and Greta got really big numbers (especially for a Friday in August!)

excuses, excuses, excuses….a sub host SHOULD NOT BE A REASON for a program to get lower than normal ratings. If a program can’t stand up with a SUB in the chair, folks watch for the WRONG REASON. Another reason NEWS should be the star NOT the personality. I watch NEWS to be informed and I don’t care WHO is in the chair giving it to me.

I watch my local newscasts and I watch 360 specifically because I like Anderson.

I watch Nancy Grace because I agree with her, to hell what she has on. I think people watch “The O’Reilly Factor” to hear his views on things, not necessarily what he’s talking about but because they support his views.

#8 — “a sub host SHOULD NOT BE A REASON for a program to get lower than normal ratings”
Is that a personal view or some fact i’m not aware of? The news business is changing, people watch for the hosts. Once you realize that, the ratings will make sense. It’s not like FNC has much competition anyways. CNN’s prime time is a disaster. I think if this keeps up HLN will be the #2 network….Which wouldn’t be a bad thing, I actually watch quite a bit of it.
