On location reax: Take 2

FOX News’ Shepard Smith…

“Good afternoon .. there is a desperate, desperate race to try to save those who made it through the storm, but may not survive the aftermath.”

“So many people who have escaped from flooded homes and have absolutely nowhere to go. They are walking down bridges on a 90-plus degree day with no real destination, with no instructions about where they may be able to get help, with no real possibility for food, not yet…”

“Make no mistake about it, that’s what this is. A human crisis, say many here in New Orleans, like nothing this nation has ever known.”

“This may be one of the saddest spectacles I have ever seen…that’s the projects. By the thousands, they were stuck there…these people have been trapped inside their homes or on this bridge for two days.”

“I want to show you what we have found when we went to the edge of the projects, at the beginning of the water that’s contaminated with sewer and human remains, and see the humanity coming out of that water two hours ago. “

“There’s no one to rescue them. There are no boats to go out…Hundreds and hundreds of people with no water, no food, no medical treatment and no way to get it, not now anyway.”

“On a bridge… with no shade, no place to go to the bathroom and no help. You can see the police cars coming through, and they do from time to time, but the police have nowhere to take people. The police have no medical assistance for them. They have no way to get them out of here because they have nowhere to take them.”

  1. By far Shep has been Fox’s best reporter through the hurricane.

  2. I agree. He’s just really rises to the occasion.

  3. The best reporter covering the story in my opinion.

  4. Oh, my heart is breaking. Shep just showed a tape of a deceased man on the highway in New Orleans. He was on Bill Hemmer’s hour and these two could hardly contain themselves.
    Gripping, devastating.
