  1. How can CNN be getting excited about closing the gap during on emonth, the busiest news month of the year? HTat’s really pushing it. I’d like to see a year to date comparison vs. the same period last year, which will reflect the accurate gap %’s.

  2. Mark’s right, how can CNN talk about the gap during a HEAVY news month? The gap represents non-breaking and breaking news periods, most importantly non-breaking news periods since that’s the point, CNN’s audience disappears when there’s nobody dying.

  3. They’re right, Spud. If you don’t want to look like a shill for CNN you need to put the September gaps in context with a year to date comparison, or something. Of course the gap lessened, it’s been a month of death and destruction.

  4. I’d like to know how much of the gap MSNBC closed between itself and CNN during the busiest news month of the year.

  5. Oh how the fnc lovers hate the TRUTH. CNN closed the gap in September and that’s a fact. If FNC had gained as much as CNN did, it would be plenty enough ahead, BUT that didn’t happen now did it. Oh how the righties can’t stand to let the truth be told.

  6. I agree with #5. No matter how you slice it or dice it, CNN made substantial gains this month. The REAL question is…can they hold on to these viewers as time goes on and Katrina/Rita slowly reach the backburner…

  7. Let this Anon RAT get his kicks for now. The RAT will soon find CNN back to pre Hurrican ratings in a few months.

    AND

Let’s talk about TRUTH. This miserable RAT couldn’t even bother to read the link that it was CBS who got the dirt on the CNN memo and immediately started going after FNC for it. You can read this RAT like a book, Every post is FNC’s fault in this RATS loony world.

  8. Hey, I just saw on the “Media Week” Web site that Fox News was ranked #2 for all of cable television between TNT and USA Network. I know you’re all talking about closing the gap, but it’s not CNN between TNT and USA Network, it’s Fox News and that kind of cuts through all of this CNN spin about gaps.

    Comment by Dave — September 27, 2005 @ 4:46 pm

  9. People, where’s the news? I see nothing new here. CNN, even though it’s up like 1,000%, is still is in 2nd place, which says so much. MSNBC is lagging behind everyone even thought they hired ol’ Rita Cosby, and Fox is #1 and kicking tail in all of basic cable television.

Again, where’s the news? It’s all so damn boring.

    Comment by Ms. Anonymous — September 27, 2005 @ 5:03 pm

  10. I can always count on Ms. Anonymous to tell it like it is. It IS so boring because even with all this news and these stories built for CNN to win, the don’t even come close. And Fox is taking laps with TNT and USA? It’s so unreal to me. TNT, FOX News and USA. Fox is it, end of story.

    Comment by Phil — September 27, 2005 @ 6:05 pm

  11. I read all over the internet that the numbers are skewed because of hurricane katrina. EXCUSE ME! Isn’t cable news suppose to be about NEWS. If not they need to start categorizing it in another category.
