Medved on the networks….

The Courier & Press’s John Martin writes about conservatvie talk show host Michael Medved’s comments on the media and general and CNN in particular…(via Romenesko)

The conservative talk radio host and movie critic spent the delay in the airport terminal, where he watched CNN - “always a mistake,” he quipped.

He said the cable network was “doing 3-day old stories” and “paraphrasing stuff from the New York Times, poorly.”

“I could read Motor Trend magazine and learn more about the world around me than watching ‘The Situation Room’ with Wolf Blitzer,” said Medved, whose speech at the University of Evansville was titled, “Media Values vs. American Values: Why Entertainment and Journalism Tilt to the Left.”

Medved said the news and entertainment industries are inherently liberal, though he said the reasons are “structural,” and he reserved his harshest criticism for television media.

He said he doesn’t believe that reporters and editors conduct meetings in which they plot to help the Democratic Party or Democratic-friendly causes. However, he said the media has “an unnecessary focus on bad news, and bad news is an essential component of liberalism.”
