Tuesday’s Numbers…

Not much to write about last night’s ratings. FNC won the day and the night but its primetime lineup didn’t show much excitement in the ratings except for O’Reilly’s 3,000,000 viewers. CNN’s Cooper and Zahn’s shows seem to have stabilized at 1,000,000 viewers for the time being (a big increase over their normal levels) while Newsnight seems to be slipping a bit. MSNBC was back to pre-Katrina levels…and maybe a wee bit worse than that because no show broke 400,000.

  1. It looks like Keith’s numbers are back to normal! Does he still do his stop smoking segment?

  2. Grace’s numbers have been a little weak as of late…I guess the novelty of her show/persona has worn off.

  3. Yea..the only way Nancy Grace could possibly save her show, if there is another “Scott Peterson” case on the horizon for her. The Natalee Holloway case, sure didn’t help her ratings…..

Does anyone know what type of contract CNN signed her for? 2 yrs? I don’t think they will renew it. Her antics are fine for tabloid journalism they now call CTV,which is watched by a younger crowd durning late afternoon……….for hard hitting prime time news, where there is more mature adults are watching, she doesn’t cut the mustard. IMO.

  4. “I don’t think they will renew it”

    LOL are you crazy?

  5. “Anonymous”, you beat me to it! I was just looking up ratings to respond to “An Observer”. Nancy Grace’s program is the highest rated on Headline News, and regularly beats MSNBC’s programming. Further, thanks to Nancy, HN’s Prime Time numbers are far ahead of what they were before her program came to the network.

She’s the best thing that’s happened to them!

  6. I agree with Missy. Whether you love or hate NG. The ratings are still up over 100% vs. last year. What else could HLN ask for? I feel the same about Rita Cosby. The Q3 ranker has her show as averaging 700K. I remember a while back we were discussing how Imus had the highest ratings at 300K…. I don’t really watch much of either show unless the topic interests me.

  8. We are going to talk about how Paula shouldn’t have her contract renewed in a couple of months once she gets back down to pre-katrina #s.

  9. Didn’t everyone see Grace’s numbers falling as an inevitability? She’s a flash in the pan, especially given the lack of celebrity or even high-profile law suits at the moment. She needs to eat more crow pie to bring in those viewers.

  10. I like the way Spud says that Fox’s prime time lineup didn’t show much excitment EXCEPT for O’Reilly’s 3 million. What a way to start a sentence. Well, it was over 3.1 million people, and I think that any other news network on cable would give a hell of a lot to have any show do that well, or even bring in half of that.

  11. CNN and their yapdog Cooper can go back to the gutter with MSNBC.

  12. Without the tabloid-journalism that NG does…she is NOT a hard hitter news anchor, eventually she will fall off into oblivion in ratings (ala Rita Crosby at MSNBC)…….people are going to eventually tune into another prime time news program, WHO actually WANT news, and a show that doesn’t show “soap opera” crap every night.. NG’s numbers have slipped from her “premiere” and the few weeks after… Her numbers were up in the 800,000 mark, now are down to between 3 -5 on any given night. I am only speaking about HER ratings since her premiere..not from a year ago. She wasn’t on a year ago, and I don’t care who was before her. Check her ratings during the Katrina/Rita Hurricanes. Do you think people want to WATCH her nasal flaring, bugged eyed, screeching voice antics doing reports on a catastrophe? Her antics are better fit for the age mentality she serves up on her show on Court TV. To Nancy…………..don’t give up your day job. Just look to Greta Van Susterns, ratings starting to plunge..to give you an inclining. Many people are tired of the (Twitty type) soap opera, tabloid journalism Greta and Nancy are becoming famous for. When her ratings reach the ear mark of O’Reilly’s than we can talk.

    Comment by An Observer — September 29, 2005 @ 3:25 pm

  13. Just put someone else in Greta’s place, please Fox. And I don’t mind debate between hannity and colmes but can he have a little less yelling - that’s my only beef there.

  14. I’d like to get some numbers on the show Dayside from FNC i think its a rising star within thier lineup.
