To be…or not to be…a legal analyst…that is the question!

GretaWire gives her take on the career of a legal analyst…

Incidentally, to answer many of your questions, there really is not much of a career as a legal analyst, although I get many resumes from lawyers telling me that they want to switch careers and become a legal analyst. The term legal analyst appears to be simply a television creation. You don’t go to law school to become a legal analyst. You go to law school to become a lawyer and some lawyers are sometimes asked to provide legal commentary on TV as guests. We, in television, call them legal analysts when they come on TV and analyze the law.

The New York Post’s Michael Starr scoops that American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest will gues host several editions of Larry King Live…(via FTVLive)

RYAN Seacrest will host several upcoming editions of “Larry King Live” — in what looks to be the first step in an overall deal between Seacrest and CNN.

Seacrest, who hosts Fox’s “American Idol,” was given free rein by King to book his own guests, CNN insiders say.

He’ll host this Saturday’s “LKL” with guests Ashlee Simpson and her manager/father, Joe Simpson.

HLN hires two…

CNN announced today that Entertainment correspondent Adrianna Costa and sports anchor Will Selva are joining HLN’s Robin and Company. Executive Vice President of the CNN News Group Ken Jautz said, “Along with Robin Meade and meteorologist Bob Van Dillen, the addition of Selva and Costa to the Robin & Company morning show creates a dynamic that is sure to be welcoming to viewers each morning.” Selva started on October 13th. Costa starts October 25th.

Gretchen Carlson profile…

The recent flurry of FNC personality profiles continues. Kristin Tollotson has a profile of Minnesota native Gretchen Carlson….(via TVNewser)

Even though she’s almost tiny enough to play Tinkerbell, Gretchen Carlson stands out amid the bustle and glare of Times Square. Maybe it’s the faint glow coming off her flawless blond coiff, pink sweater set and megawatt smile as she steps into the W hotel’s Blue Fin, a haven for sushi fanatics like Carlson. Heads turn. People know she’s somebody, even if they’re not quite sure who.

Four different guesses would have been right — former Miss Minnesota, former Miss America 1989, former CBS Saturday-morning anchor and current Fox News roving anchor. Carlson, who jumped to Fox in June after more than four years with CBS, met us for a late lunch to talk about life in New York and her new job.

Gracefully dodging any discussion of her new employer’s reputation for a conservative slant with “that hasn’t been my experience,” she dug into a plate of artfully arranged raw fish.

“When I first moved here five years ago, I could see Carnegie Hall out my back window,” she said. “Now I’m right across from Juilliard.”

Ailes receives award…

Broadcasting & Cable’s John Eggerton writes about FNC Chief Roger Ailes receiving The Media Institute’s Freedom Of Speech Award…

Ailes was unapologetic in his praise for America, with all its problems, saying he sometimes had to remind his collegues that, “while freedom of the press is the central pillar of democracy, freedom of the press did not invent democracy. It is democracy that is the structure, the support and the cradle of freedom of the press. So, at Fox we investigate anything, finding the truth we’ll report it, but we don’t get up every morning assuming our country is guilty.”

“Because as individuals we demand the right to be innocent until proven guilty, we allow that same privilege to the country.”
