CNN axes Daybreak, expands American Morning…
TVNewser has the internal CNN Memo from Jonathan Klein laying out the plan to end Daybreak and expand American Morning by an hour starting November 28th…
I’m pleased to announce that American Morning will be expanding to four hours, 6-10am, beginning Monday, November 28th. Although we will discontinue Daybreak, Carol Costello will continue as a vital member of our morning team in her role as news reader and reporter for American Morning along with anchors Soledad O’Brien and Miles O’Brien.

One would wonder whether they will air live programming from 2-3AM Pacific/5-6AM Eastern time, or fill that hour with another rerun of “Larry King Live.”

This is a good move on CNN’s part. The only thing they got wrong was keeping Costello on. She should be given the boot.

They need to do one of two things: after Newsnight signs off at midnight, simulcast CNN International until 6 am, OR, have someone good (like Catherine Callaway) anchor news updates overnight like they did during Katrina coverage.

actually what mr. klein means is that a.m. hit bottom when he revamped it so he is going to try again.

I’m certain today there is much rejoicing among insomniacs, shut ins and prison inmates that American Morning with Soledad “Did I mention that I bi-racial and have 4 kids?” and Miles and their kooky sidekick Carol will be on for another hour.

Oh that’s just great. Another full hour of repeated interviews and taped pieces.

Honestly, who cares? They make so may changes at CNN these days, I can hardly keep up with it.

Really, Anon. Maybe Soledad can get more press for having the ability to give birth and be multi-racial all at the same time.

What else can they write about…certainly not the ratings!

They’ll probably put cnn international on at 5:00 AM and change the 12:00 PM spot, which they sort of have anyways.
