Fishbowl CNN “source” fired…

FishBowl DC reports that one of its CNN sources has been fired…

It is with regret and surprise that FishbowlNY reports that our source at CNN has been fired, unfortunately for Fishbowl-related reasons. Tom Thomsen, a now-former CNN employee and director of a weekly performance (unrelated to mediabistro) in which I participate, told me that he was fired from CNN for the following reasons: speaking about the company to an outside source without authorization; revealing information about a meeting where executives were speaking to employees, not the general public; and granting an outside person access to the company for inappropriate reasons and sharing proprietary company information with that person.

  2. He should have been fired. He was leaking information. Just like whoever it is at fnc leaking the ratings numbers should be fired.

  3. That’s right. As long as nobody knows what the ratings are, you can pretend that MSNBC #1, blowing all competition out of the water!

  4. Nielsen ratings are hardly considered classified. You can read the Nielsen TV ratings in the newspaper — I saw them in today’s USA Today. Bill O’Reilly was the only news program in their list of top cable shows, he tied TNT and Nick.

  6. #2 just shows his ignorance by writing that FNC leaks ratings. The blogs request the ratings from the networks, and they receive everyone’s ratings.

  7. hey chris if you don’t think they’re classified I would like you to start giving us all the daily ratings, because as far as I can tell the only way to get them is from FTV which you have to pay to get or tvnewser, who posts them from FTV now.
