Another CNN leak investigation…

WHAC got a tip that CNN is conducting an investigation into who leaked the Aaron Brown/Anderson Cooper switch idea which TVNewser ran with, and was subsequently picked up by everybody….

CNN has instituted an investigation into who leaked “information” to TVNewser which he printed as fact, not opinion, which subsequently was picked up by all “trade” papers.

This is the second time employees from CNN have been involved in a situation with bloggers employed by mediabistro, (fishbowl NY), which resulted in a CNN employee being fired for his actions.

TVNewser was given a warning after his first post Monday morning, he then issued a “clarification” or, as some might call it, the truth, which the trade papers did not take notice of in their reporting, and TVNewser again Tuesday morning credited himself with “the scoop” when citing the trade paper reports.

Unfortunately people will lose their jobs over this. CNN management is furious and have clamped down. THIS IS BIG.

Mathews receives award…

Charmie R. Snetter in The Temple News writes about Hardball’s Chris Mathews receiving the School of Communication and Theater’s Lew Klein Excellence In The Media award… (via FTVLive)

“The reason we don’t have Jim Crow [laws] in the South anymore is because of television,” Matthews said. He added that if it weren’t for TV cameras capturing the injustice occurring against African Americans in the South, many would have remained uninformed and therefore accepting of segregation practices.

Situational overkill?

Yesterday I pondered whether The Situation Room’s appearance in Anderson Cooper’s slot this week might be overkill. Well it seems I wasn’t the only one thinking along those lines as today FishbowlDC ponders something similar…

Are you a fan of CNN’s “The Situation Room”? Do you wish you could cram more Wolf Blitzer into your day? Did you ponder growing a 1/3 beard in order to resemble Wolf Blitzer for Halloween? When friends call wondering where you are, do you tell them that you “are in the Situation Room”?

If you answered “yes” to these questions, than yesterday must have been Christmas come early for you. In an odd scheduling reallignment, a shockingly high percentage–25 percent–of CNN’s programming yesterday was…

…The Situation Room.

Ah, it seems just like yesterday that Anderson Cooper, not Wolf, was CNN’s “It” boy…What a difference fewer levee-busting hurricanes make…

October Numbers…

With the October numbers now out, the first network to put forth its read on those numbers was CNN, which included three PDF files showing how well it did in October 2005 compared to October 2004 when compared to FNC. Two of those PDFs can be seen at TVNewser. Here’s the third, which covers all the networks in the year to year comparison….
