Another CNN leak investigation…

WHAC got a tip that CNN is conducting an investigation into who leaked the Aaron Brown/Anderson Cooper switch idea which TVNewser ran with, and was subsequently picked up by everybody….

CNN has instituted an investigation into who leaked “information” to TVNewser which he printed as fact, not opinion, which subsequently was picked up by all “trade” papers.

This is the second time employees from CNN have been involved in a situation with bloggers employed by mediabistro, (fishbowl NY), which resulted in a CNN employee being fired for his actions.

TVNewser was given a warning after his first post Monday morning, he then issued a “clarification” or, as some might call it, the truth, which the trade papers did not take notice of in their reporting, and TVNewser again Tuesday morning credited himself with “the scoop” when citing the trade paper reports.

Unfortunately people will lose their jobs over this. CNN management is furious and have clamped down. THIS IS BIG.

TVNewser has been notified of this investigation

  1. The dems will conduct an investigation, and blame Bush and Cheney.

  2. Uhhh…this is from a tip, so how do you know it’s fact?

  3. Why is it such a big deal that someone leaked the information? Its not like AB didn’t already announce he won’t be on at 10pm anymore, so it was no surprise to him. It looks like CNN would want people to know AB WON’T be on at 10pm, so they can get viewers who deliberately avoid his dull ass. I’m surprised they booted AB before they did PZ. Those two have got to be the lamest combo i’ve ever seen! At least Klein is finally doing something about the disaster which is CNN prime time.

  4. It sounds like they have the crazies running the institution down there.

  5. to terance; must have missed something, when was is it exactly that AB “announced” anything to anyone?

forget your feelings of obvious dislike and just stick to facts if you can.

  6. I read on a blog he said something like “I won’t be on newsnight anymore to staff and took his plaque off the wall”. That’s good enough for me. I don’t dislike AB, btw. I just give an unbiased opinion!

  7. terance, you read that on TVNewser yesterday. it’s part of the exact “leak” that started all this. no facts. not your fault.

  8. did you see the story on ftvlive.com about the cnn pr dept and the big mistake they made today? It’s like a bunch of clowns work there or something.

  9. Did you actually read the story on FTVLive or did you read only the splashy headline.

  10. Sooo funny! Once again CNN implodes and exposes its own irrelevance. Egads! Investigating a leak about their shamelessly shoddy treatment of one of their own? Go team! That’s really showing leadership! Or is it just another classic Klein?

  11. This whole thing has general amusement value. As I said on an earlier post, CNN is getting great publicity out of this!
We will all be watching next week to see how it all plays out!

  12. I agree, Cara! It will be interesting to see if AB got the boot or not! Its a shame when backstage happenings are more interesting than the product itself.

  13. another one bites the dust

  14. Here’s one viewer who’s not watching. Love Cooper as a reporter. As an anchor, he’s a lightweight. And all this exposure doing something he’s not that great at will not only NOT help CNN, but will wreck Cooper reputation, as well. The only winners are the people who salivate at the site of AC. “This is Cute Nubile News (sorta)…” What happens when they are all distracted by the Next Big Thing?

  15. And please forgive my typos and wrong spellings. I always need a copyeditor… :)
