Situational overkill?

Yesterday I pondered whether The Situation Room’s appearance in Anderson Cooper’s slot this week might be overkill. Well it seems I wasn’t the only one thinking along those lines as today FishbowlDC ponders something similar…

Are you a fan of CNN’s “The Situation Room”? Do you wish you could cram more Wolf Blitzer into your day? Did you ponder growing a 1/3 beard in order to resemble Wolf Blitzer for Halloween? When friends call wondering where you are, do you tell them that you “are in the Situation Room”?

If you answered “yes” to these questions, than yesterday must have been Christmas come early for you. In an odd scheduling reallignment, a shockingly high percentage–25 percent–of CNN’s programming yesterday was…

…The Situation Room.

Ah, it seems just like yesterday that Anderson Cooper, not Wolf, was CNN’s “It” boy…What a difference fewer levee-busting hurricanes make…

  2. cnn needs to change up their anchors. wolf is okay but this is crazy. on the day of the indictment i think he was on from the end of american morning all the way through to lou dobs. doesn’t he need to eat?

  3. YAWN! If you don’t like it watch something else.

  4. Pretty soon they’ll be two “golden” anchors with maybe the same show left on CNN, Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper.

    Pretty boring stuff.

  5. I would much rather watch the situation room than say live from. At least he’s a real anchor and offers more exclusive news.

  6. Bring back Anderson! Wolf bores me to tears with his monotonous speech pattern.

  7. I really didn’t like TSR for a while… I still don’t like Wolf Blitzer. But, I do watch it sometimes. I just think the 3 hours a day is too much, and anything more than that is overkill. Imagine all the other people that don’t like him or the show. You put it on overkill and you turn many more people away. Its not “Escape from The Situation Room”.

  8. Help, I’m stuck in the Situation Room, and I can’t get out!

  9. I long for the days of Anderson Cooper co-anchoring with Juju Chang on ABC’s World News Now. That was a winning combination!

  10. there are other decent anchors out there and even if they keep the situation room format (which is really just a tv studio with an internet connection) it would do cnn well to put other hard news anchors on. i do concur however that live from is awful

  11. I think Live From is still alright, but it used to be better with Miles O’Brien still on it. At least the two anchor setup gave it an interesting pace.

Then again, I kind of like The Situation Room, too, so what do I know (apparently).
