Brown: Facts and Figures…
WHAC reports on some of the stats in the fallout from the Brown departure….
Anyway, getting to the matter at hand, a source has provided WHAC with some interesting #’s concerning the Aaron Brown story. These are as of midnight ET Wednesday:
> as of approx 7:45pm Wednesday there were 115 stories written on AB’s departure, lots of duplications of same facts; also was #1 story on Drudge;
> approx. 5000 calls received by CNN;
> this is the BIGGEST STORY since Bernie Shaw left CNN and AB came in……primary story in every paper Thursday

I fail to understand how one individual could possibly “screw up” a news network but Klein has proved me wrong..once again.

IMO, JK has proven he has NO IDEA how to run a supposedly news network. And, everything is about what he wants, with no thought at all as to what the viewers want.

We began watching CCN religiously because of Aaron Brown and now wait to find out what our new primary source of information (with Aaron) will be. Goodbye CNN.

Aaron Brown is(was) the best newscaster on the air now that Peter Jennings is gone. Joe Klein has added the last straw in dumping Brown–they been going down for some time now, what with Paula doing fluff pieces, and I hardly ever see Amanpour anymore, and now no Aaron? I can’t take any more of “Mr. Monotone” Blitzer (Thank you…very much.) I’ll be tuning in to Mr. Brown somewhere, I’m sure. It would be hard to match the cluelessness of Joe Klein.Maybe one of these days, he’llfigure out that his tastes aren’t those of his viewers

OMG! I just found out Aaron got fired from the Colbert Report! This is bu******, Aaron Brown was one the only decent people left at CNN. I too started watching CNN religiously after seeing one of Aaron’s compelling takes on a story. Supposedly Anderson Cooper is replacing him. That’s good, I like him too. The firing of Aaron Brown is a true travesty and Joe Klein is a FUCKING MORON!!! What exaclty did A.B do to get booted anyway? The only person driving CNN into the ground is Joe Klein. stupid fucker.
Comment by Lindsay — November 4, 2005 @ 2:46 am
He might not get the big numbers like O’Rielly….but Aaron’s fans are truly his fans….me being one of them. And the reason why there’s been so much uproar is because we just don’t know who can replace him…no other anchor was like Aaron and that’s that….I will miss his unique style!

I enjoyed watching Aaron Brown’s slot very much. Aaron came across as being real without being theatrical like some of the others. I will truly miss him on CNN. What a tragedy to make Aaron leave. Joe Klein seems to be behaving like a feudal lord over disintegrating CNN.
I for one have already said GOODBYE to CNN and HELLO to FOX.
Comment by Sarah — November 4, 2005 @ 8:54 am
I’ve described myself as a CNN addict for years. Firing Aaron Brown has cured my addiction–I’ve already moved to another news show. Aaron Brown is a compassionate reporter who shows genuine concern for the people he is reporting on. His warmth makes him a unique reporter; one who viewers can relate to, feel akinship with, and trust. CNN has made a giantic error in firing Aaron Brown, which will become evident in months ahead as ratings drop. I have no doubt that another network will hire Aaron causing many more CNN viewers to defect, leaving CNN with even lower ratings. I feel sad for Aaron and completely disgusted with CNN. Fortunately, Aaron will recover from CNN’s poor judgment; CNN won’t.

I quit watching CNN last summer and found that life goes on. Has anyone ever wondered if Jon Klein is part of a sabotage conspiracy to bring down CNN? Makes as much sense as anything else.
Comment by lin — November 4, 2005 @ 12:09 pm
I am a loyal Fox Fan, but now and then I found myself wandering over to Aaron’s show.
The ambulance chasing of Greta and Joe S. got to be too much at times. So Aaron’s calm voice was appealing, but his arrogance turned me off.
I hope Anderson will find that perfect middle of the road - charming, but authentic.
Comment by Cara — November 4, 2005 @ 12:23 pm
Oh good, a place to voice my outrage and disappointment among others of my kind. Count me among the CNN defectors. Aaron Brown was –is — the best, and Klein has thrown the baby out with the bathwater. Whichever network is smart enough snatch Brown up is the one I’ll be watching in future.
Comment by Karen — November 4, 2005 @ 3:28 pm
Brown is a first rate journlaist and Cooper is a celebrity former reality show host. CNN has gone to the dogs.

Aaron Brown was the reason I watched CNN. I cherished his respectibility and baby boomer values. Aaron Brown made CNN seem like a team. His personality covered for the other newscasters personality flaws. Without Aaron the rest of the team seems weak. I won’t be watching CNN anymore. Where ever Aaron Brown lands, that is the newscast I will be watching. CNN you were stupid to give up a good man.
Comment by Judy — November 5, 2005 @ 12:54 am
I’m glad that so many people agree with me! Aaron Brown was my reason for watching CNN, and now I’ll be watching my news from where ever Mr. Brown decides work next. The shame of this is I really like Anderson Cooper, having followed his reporting during Hurricane Katrina. Now he’ll be known as the one who took Mr. Brown’s job. I think this will hurt him, as well.
Comment by Sophia Nabil — November 5, 2005 @ 1:46 am
Aaron Brown was another in a long line of CNN media whores who deliberately slanted every story that came across his desk… slanting them to the liberal point of view. Though not as blatant as Bill Moyer, (different network, now retired,) he was as effective in clouding the issues, asking the softball questions of his liberal allies, and then, the 100 mile an fast ball at conservatives. Good Riddance!
Comment by MD — November 6, 2005 @ 1:00 am
Sorry, the queen of softball question still remains at CNN in the 9 PM period. ANd I say queesn because I just watched Shrek 2 and Larry King was so good in his co-starring role as the lady bartender! Some news channel, huh?
Comment by Staycee — November 6, 2005 @ 12:13 pm
It is a sad comment that people not only get the governement they deserve, they also get the media they deserve. Are there that few intelligent, thoughtful viewers left who want their news delivered from a commentator of the calibre of Aaron Brown?
Comment by Valary Cook — November 6, 2005 @ 4:22 pm
The only reason I watch Cnn, is because of Aaron Brown. He was the Best anchor on cnn. Where he turns up is where I’ll be.
Comment by Barbara Francom — November 7, 2005 @ 9:27 pm
The best newscaster ever! We will sure miss him very much!! We hope he comes back…
Comment by Gisele — November 8, 2005 @ 3:09 am
Every day I looked forward to 10PM and Aaron Brown and the News. He is the BEST. I will not have any reason to watch CNN now. Hope Aaron finds another Anchor job in the East soon that we can see Boo Hoo, we love and miss you Aaron.
Comment by Lois Sheats — November 8, 2005 @ 4:55 pm
aaron brown was and is the BEST. I’ll follow him where ever he goes. Cnn goofed BIG TIME by letting him go.

I’ve been a fan of Aaron Brown since I first found him on CNN one night. He is a great news anchor, has a marvelous, sincere way of expressing himself and I miss him very much. Hope I can locate him soon. Goodbye CNN.
Comment by Hazel Phillips — November 14, 2005 @ 11:25 pm
CNN has gone down the tube for me! Aaron Brown was–and is –by far the best news anchor on television. His program was well balanced and informative. I’ve watched Aaron since he was a broadcaster in Seattle so I know how exceptional he is. Blitaer’s funereal voice is more than I can take, yet he is on so many hours. Fox will be my source for news in the future.
Comment by Loni Kuehn — November 15, 2005 @ 1:11 pm
JON KLEIN SHOULD BE KICKED IN THE BUTT! HOW COULD HE FAIL TO RECOGNIZE AARON BROWN AS THE ACE NEWSCASTER ON CNN? COULD IT HAVE BEEN JEALOUSY? GET HIM BACK JERK!
Comment by K. MURRAY — November 15, 2005 @ 5:45 pm
I miss Aaron Brown. He is an excellent reporter and a
pleasure to have someone fresh and interesting. Sorry
he is out. Bad move.

“Where’s Aaron Brown, sorry to see him go he was a person i liked to watch and listen too. CNN has goofed again.
Comment by robert pendleton — November 22, 2005 @ 7:52 pm
We would like to add our disgust, to the rest of Aaron Brown fans, at his firing. If Klein wanted him gone , maybe he has the guts to tell us where we can see him again. He was the BEST reporter that happened to CNN, and I don’t even find CNN interesting anymore. What has happened there? I thought it was bad enough when Bill Hemmer vanished, but this tops the cake for blunders. Aaron was such a class act at his profession. Too bad Klein couldn’t see that. Goodbye CNN. Not interested in you anymore.
Comment by Don and Helene — November 25, 2005 @ 12:50 am
I faithfully watched Aaron brown ever night, he was a real down to earth reporter with class, when I would miss his show I would stay up late to watch the next. I am shocked that he is gone, all the good reporters are gone, the press is becoming a real messup. Bring him back, but then again he has to much class for your CNN. I’ll check in on Anderson & King now & then maybe. Aaron is a big loss to CNN
Comment by Judy Richardson — November 26, 2005 @ 2:34 am
Wihout Aaron Brown and his real news [or so it seems] there is no reason to watch CNN. He was measured, mature, articulate — and the news hour was just that. Now it is just comic book sensation stories and there is no reason to watch.
Comment by Cynthia Snowden — November 29, 2005 @ 10:56 pm
I really miss Aaron Brown, and have watched Anderson Cooper, but he is just too young to replace a class act like Aaron.
Comment by lynn cordina — November 30, 2005 @ 3:02 am
Aaron Brown… you are welcome to come back to Seattle where we first discovered you on the air many years ago!!! You have always made us smile with your quirky way of delivering a story, and that smirk that lets us know just what you’re thinking of the story you are reporting on!!! We have always gotten your message… we watched CNN because of you and now we are waiting to see where you go, in the meantime, we are not watching much of anything. Maybe you can begin your own show like the O’Reilly Factor, but with your own twist and flair. We would watch it!!! If you ever come back to Seattle, we will be loyal watchers!!!
Comment by S Frank — December 4, 2005 @ 9:10 pm
I used to be an Arron Brown. Now that he is gone I WILL BE WATCHING FOX.To bad you had to ruin a good thing.
Comment by Donna Hayes — December 6, 2005 @ 4:53 pm
I miss Aaron Brown. I didn’t feel like I needed to take a bath after watching the news! He was calming and honest. I love Anderson Cooper but I want Aaron back. Where did he go?

I must have missed what happened to Aaron Brown—he was the best newscaster on CNN—I faithfully watched his segment every night and now find out he has been fired!!! Shame On CNN–he was an an extraordinary man who brought a taste of humor and down to earthness you cannot replace!! Anderson Cooper is good for one hour only—well Fox news channel here I come—-wake up CNN
Comment by Patricia Babcock — December 8, 2005 @ 4:09 am
I will be watching FOX from now on—SHAME ON YOU CNN–he was the best you had!!! He displayed sincerity, openness, and honesty–qualities you cannot replace–Anderson Cooper is good for one hour and cannot meet the standards or show the sense of humor Aaron did—so goodbye CNN!!!
