Imus says Brown to MSNBC…(well, not really)

Page Six uses the I-Man to tweak MSNBC….

NOT even Don Imus, whose morning radio show has been simulcast on MSNBC for years, says nice things about the little-watched cable channel. Yesterday, reacting to news that Aaron Brown had left CNN and been replaced by Anderson Cooper, the I-Man said, “Which means there will be, very soon, ‘The Aaron Brown Report’ here on MSNBC, because the MO for MSNBC is [that] anybody at either Fox or CNN who can’t get it done, they hire ‘em here, thinking I don’t know what . . .” A television insider recently described MSNBC as “an elephants’ graveyard.”

  1. MSNBC’s credibility is so far in the toilet. I don’t even think if they got O’reilly, he’d get decent numbers. People don’t want to watch anything on that channel! And how can you blame them? Lame shows, under utilizing talent, “pushing” people not ready for tv…

  2. Imus said this morning, after reading that comment in Page Six of he NYP, that “my words were taken out of context”.

He had Jeff Greenfield on yesterday morning and there was very little iscussion of AB’s departure. Jeff said, “i consider him a friend”, referring to AB. Imus always spoke well of him too and said he’d met him when doing LKL and thought he was “great”.

  3. Imus is the best thing MSNBC has going for it. I wish they carried him until 10:00!

  4. Imus and Kinky Friedman ought to do a prime time call in show as competition for “Hallo? Hallo?….You’re on Larry King Live talking with Jack LaLane. Are you there caller? Hallo”?

  5. I agree with cas that Imus is definitely the best MSNBC has right now, a long with Chris Matthews and the other reporter who frequently fills in for him. But I believe there’s a hate-hate relationship between Imus and MSNBC, so who knows how much longer he’ll last on there, of course at least there’s always still the radio with him.

  6. One thing i’ve noticed about Imus’ program is that the ratings are always 300K. He does have a small audience on tv but, it isn’t growing any…I realize this is just a simulcast and, his core audience is on the radio.

  7. Imus has some nerve talking about the network that actually is crazy enough to air HIS show. But it’s nothing new; he’s constantly putting down his fellow MSNBC’ers, accusing them of being no-talents, etc. If he had any class, he’d keep his mouth shut. As for me, I can think of ONE show I want to watch on MSNBC–but it sure isn’t his.

  8. No nerve. MSNBC knows who he is, and he is not saying anything wrong. They knew going in what he was going to do, and Rick Kaplan definitely knew that when he brought Imus’s show to the MSNBC set.

  9. I like Tucker Carlson - he’s a genuine person, he strives to present both sides of an issue and provides a lot of humor to his program. I just wish his ratings would pick up - knowing MSNBC, they’ll cancel him soon.

  10. Well, Jason, if Kaplan likes it when Imus insults MSNBC talent, I guess he likes certain people at the network…and not others. In other words, he plays favorites.
