Plane skids off runway at Midway…

A plane skidded off the runway at Chicago’s Midway Airport. I was on CNN at the time Heidi Collins broke with the news followed quickly by Keith Olbermann on MSNBC. On FNC, The taped O’Reilly Factor was not interrupted and instead a lower third announcing the incident was put on the screen.

CNN was also the first with live video.

Reporting on the shooting in Miami…

FNC’s Steve Harrigan blogs about some of what was going down yesterday in Miami when the shooting on the airplane occurred….

I flicked on the television briefly to make sure nothing was happening. A local channel had it first, shooting at Miami airport — then, I clicked to us, not yet, to the others, also nothing yet. Then it came like a wave, breaking over every channel. You try and think how big it will be and how long it will last when the phone rings. Car or taxi. Will the airport be shut down. How close can you get. You have to meet up with a shooter and a sat truck, who are also racing to the scene from different places.

O’Reilly video bonanza…

Two O’Reilly related clips on Crook and Liars to mention….

The first is video of Part 1 of the O’Reilly/Stern interview.

The second is video of The Daily Show going after O’Reilly for using a year old comedy bit it did to support his “War On Christmas” argument he’s been making this year.

When Senior Producers strike…

This is a week late but I had to post it. The Situation’s Senior Producer Willie Geist took over Tucker Carlson’s blog last Friday to give readers the real low down on The Situation with Tucker Carlson….

One of my first moves as senior producer of “The Situation With Tucker Carlson” was to create a segment that would turn the spotlight away from Tucker and toward the place it truly belongs: on me. Truth be told, I don’t really pay much attention to the first 45 minutes of the show. It’s not that I don’t love the show. I really do. It’s just that I’m too busy daydreaming about the glorious final segment of the show. My segment, “The Cutting Room Floor”.

Grove tweaks MSNBC…

Lloyd Grove notes an odd exchange between Tucker Carlson and Billy Bush on MSNBC Monday…

Is MSNBC going after that all important posh boarding-school audience?

Maybe that’s why the somewhat ratings-challenged cable network devoted several minutes Tuesday night to the teenage love lives of Tucker Carlson and Billy Bush, both alumni of the super-exclusive St. George’s School in Newport, R.I.

Cosby in Afghanistan….

Pro Wrestling Insider’s Buck Woodward wraps up tonight’s Live and Direct WWE action. Be prepared to be swamped with pop-ups…..

After another commercial, they interviewed a soldier and hand delivered a letter to him from his father, who had also served in the military. They then had a “Father & Son Reunion” segment, as the soldier’s father was in the MSNBC studio, and they did a split-screen as the two spoke.

Armed Forces Entertainment Director Art Myers talked about how the tour came about, noting that they had amateur wrestling exhibitions for the troops overseas in the past, and Vince McMahon approached Armed Forces Entertainment about having wrestlers visit the troops. The troops, in unison, wished Myers a happy wedding anniversary (today is his 35th anniversary), and Myers sent a message to his wife at home.
