Housley on the execution…

FNC’s Adam Housley, a witness in the Tookie Williams execution, turns in a reporter’s notebook entry on the subject…

I have seen death before, but never actually witnessed a last breath. Tonight that changed.

Tonight I saw the deep breaths of nervousness, the breaths of annoyance when an IV couldn’t be inserted easily … and the last quick breaths of air as a man’s chest went still. This man wasn’t a friend, a member of my family, or even an acquaintance. This man was convicted of brutally murdering four innocent people and later bragging about how he watched their last breaths. Tonight I saw his.

Monday Primetime numbers (West Coast Edition)…

Something a bit different today. Here are the program numbers for what is considered West Coast Primetime from last night. Where on earth did The Situation get that number from? It beat Anderson Cooper 360’s second hour, apparently benefitting from a Rita Cosby cameo from San Quentin. Speaking of Cosby, her 1 am repeat also beat Cooper. Meanwhile FNC watches all this from up in the tree tops….

Cosby on the execution…

Jossip takes a shot at Rita Cosby over her execution coverage….

Rita’s reporting was like watching Robin Williams at a testimonial dinner: one moment, seriously contemplating that her pal “Tookie” founded one of the most ruthless gangs in the country, and the next gushing how she interviewed him three times! (Which she said way more than three times, just so we wouldn’t forget.) Rita breathlessly said that the death chamber was somber like, well, someone was about to die. Can you believe?

CNN celebrates a year with Jonathan Klein…

CNN is celebrating the one year anniversary of Jonathan Klein’s tenure at CNN. I can’t recall the last time I saw any network, whether it was cable or broadcast, single out the one year anniversary of the arrival of its current President. I can’t recall FNC doing that for Ailes at his one year anniversary. I can’t recall MSNBC doing it for Kaplan. I can’t recall CBS, NBC, or ABC doing it for their Presidents at their one year anniversaries. Very odd.

CNN is using the occasion to highlight the gains it has made in the P25-54 Demo over Klein’s first year…

Grove tweaks MSNBC (again)…

Lloyd Grove is on a roll. Last week he took MSNBC on over a bizarre conversation between Tucker Carlson and Billy Bush and ended the story with Rick Kaplan calling Grove a “turkey”. Now, today, Grove chides MSNBC for advertising Rita Cosby’s witnessing of the execution of Stanley “Tookie” Williams…

Bad taste - high ratings?: The headline on yesterday’s cable news press release speaks - creepily - for itself: “MSNBC’S RITA COSBY WILL WITNESS STANLEY ‘TOOKIE’ WILLIAMS’ DEATH BY LETHAL INJECTION.”
