NBC has always had control over programming on the channel, with forays into joint efforts like “Connected Coast to Coast” dying quietly. But the structure of the joint venture has prevented NBC Universal from realizing costs savings in back-office and financial reporting. Those barriers have now been replaced.
But both companies were happy with the way things were working with MSNBC.com.“That venture works very well as it is today, with NBC News contributing the news and content, Microsoft contributing the technology and the online marketing. There really wasn’t an interest in changing that,” the executive said.
