CNN to air Gupta Earthquake Special
CNN announced that it will be airing a one hour special on the Pakistani earthquake recovery. The special “Dr. Sanjay Gupta Reports from the Quake Zone”, airs Saturday, Dec. 31, at 6 p.m…
Dr. Gupta visits refugees now living in non-winterized tent cities and shares their stories of life and hope, loss and death.
“The snow has started to fall in many places in Pakistan…and it is a tremendously large problem,” Dr. Gupta reports during the special. “Obviously it is very cold, but even more pragmatically speaking, it just makes this area uninhabitable…some of the people here are telling me they can’t even dig to bury people…they can’t even dig their own graves.”
The hour-long special will feature segments including:- Villagers participating in a funeral procession to bury another victim of the earthquake and its aftermath.
- A profile of the last U.S. Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) unit housed under military tents, and the patients they treat.
- Dr. Gupta introduces viewers to Pakistani Colonel Fraz, who took charge after the quake, setting up tent camps and maintaining order.
- The incredible survival story of a woman who lived buried underneath the rubble for two months. In this segment, Dr. Gupta explains how the human body can survive such extreme conditions.

Could you please tell us what happened to the little boy with no warm clothes and no shoes and ran away when offered a jacket by you? This little boy touched our heart and we would like to help him and his family. He looked so cold and sad.Could you find out more about his circumstances and his family please?
