Perseverance…

GretaWire today reaffirms its dedication to the Natalee Holloway saga…

While some in the media may be losing interest in Natalee, Beth is not. No parent does. Beth is determined to get the facts, find out what happened to her daughter and get justice for her daughter. She is now getting criticized by many and accused of having motives other than the desire to get justice for her daughter but that is predictable. People can get mean. I told her that I would continue to stay on the story and help get facts to the extent I can. Naturally as time marches on and as no facts are developed, it is difficult for us to shed light on the unsolved disappearance. The media may help in these cases in that it helps remind law enforcement that it is unsolved. I would like to help Beth — just as I would like to help the many parents whose children are missing. As you might imagine, I get many e-mails from parents who need help. I only wish I could help them all. You have NO idea how many missing people there are… I spend much time during the day answering e-mails and trying to help guide people as to what I think they should do in these tragic situations… but no one really has the answers.

In addition to spending the time going over the notes today with Beth, I also spent much of the day making calls to sources on the island of Aruba. In one of my random calls to a source we learned of the new search in the dunes area of Aruba. It was only by accident that we learned that the police got a new tip yesterday. We all wish we could get more answers.

Imus tweaks MSNBC (yet again…)

An emailer writes in that this morning on Imus in the Morning, Imus henchman Rob Bartlett sang a parody song, while playing the harmonica, that mentioned several MSNBC personalities including Chris Mathews, Keith Olbermann, Tucker Carlson, and Chris Jansing. I doubt there’s a transcript or audio clip out there (I did a cursory search on the internet for such) but if anyone can get me a transcript that would be nice. Imus’ show airs wayyyy to early on MSNBC for us Pacific Rimmers….

CNN to remember Christa McAuliffe, Challenger tragegy…

CNN announced this morning that CNN Presents will air a one hour special on the 20th anniversary of the Challenger disaster with a focus on Christa McAuliffe who was going to be the first teacher in space. The special “Christa McAuliffe: Reach for the Stars”, hosted by Paula Zahn, will air Saturday, January 21 at 8 pm ET…

Filmmakers Renee Sotile and Mary Jo Godges spent numerous hours with McAuliffe’s family members including her mother, son and sisters for the documentary. They interviewed NASA officials, astronauts, former colleagues and friends who share personal memories of McAuliffe and candidly reflect on the events surrounding the shuttle explosion in the film.

Previously unseen NASA footage and candid interviews with NASA colleagues reveal McAuliffe’s unique spirit and personality. Despite her death, she remains one of America’s most vividly remembered astronauts.

The program, “Christa McAuliffe: Reach for the Stars,” features the original song “You’re Where I Go,” by award-winning singer Carly Simon, written for the film in memory of the extraordinary life and legacy of Christa McAuliffe.

HLN expands primetime programming…

Variety’s Michael Learmonth writes about HLN adding conservative radio talker Glenn Beck to its Primetime lineup…

New show will debut in April, though a timeslot has not been set. Jautz said any of the existing shows could be shuffled to accommodate Beck but none will be cancelled.

Net will look to build Beck into the type of TV personality that could siphon viewers from Bill O’Reilly, Joe Scarborough and other conservative hosts.

The addition of Beck is the latest move for HLN, which added a primetime schedule in February in the first major programming shift in the net’s 22-year history
