Imus in trouble…?

Gay-rights activists are blasting Don Imus and sidekick Bernard McGuirk as gay-bashers, Last week, when fellow MSNBC talker Chris Matthews asked Imus if he’d seen the cowboy love story “Brokeback Mountain,” Imus sneered, “Why would I want to see that?” He added that McGuirk had his own name for the movie — a crude candy reference we’ll skip. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation called the “slurs” a “juvenile display of homophobia.” MSNBC has apologized for the banter. …

  2. I’m not particularly worried about Imus’ infantile schtick–he is just another lame addict, after all–but if I were MSNBC, I’d be worried about Chris Matthews’ role in all of this. I understand there is going to be lots of pressure on Matthews beginning this week because of his inane ramblings on a variety of topics.

  3. I certainly hope so…as for Imus, I guess not a whole lot more can be expected of him than to be his juvenile, homophobic self.

  4. You would think that MSNBC would have a little more control than this. The last think they need to do is call negative attention to themselves, they are hurting in the ratings bad enough.
