Aaron Brown surfaces…

And the Palm Beach Daily News’ Jan Sjostrom has him…(via Romenesko)

The anchorman whose boss once characterized him as ice compared with his successor’s fire was anything but chilly in the impassioned speech he delivered Tuesday at The Society of the Four Arts.

“Truth no longer matters in the context of politics and, sadly, in the context of cable news,” said Aaron Brown, whose four-year period as anchor of CNN’s NewsNight ended in November, when network executives gave his job to Anderson Cooper in a bid to push the show’s ratings closer to front-runner Fox News.

Brown said he tried to give viewers a balanced diet of light and serious news with NewsNight. “But I always knew when I got to the Brussels sprouts, I was on thin ice,” he said.

  1. It was atrocious how CNN handled Brown’s dismissal. He should be given a lot of credit for not saying more about the situation than he has. He deserved better.

  2. I agree. He’s handled himself well in light of how he was treated. CNN has a bad track record when it comes to talent dismissal — good for Aaron for handling it like a pro.

  3. Though never a big fan of his show, Aaron does appear to be a class act.

  4. Good grief.

    Could he more condescending.

What will CNN nestlings do without Brown regurgitating dinner into their helpless little mouths.

  5. I miss him, thought he and Anderson were a great team. They appealed to a younger and older generation together. Sometimes with just Anderson, I feel left out. He just hasn’t lived long enough………….

  6. Brown could have did circles around CNN, and made Klein into the fool he is. I wasn’t particulary fond of Brown but he was a heck of a lot better than Cooper will ever be.

  7. Boo Hoo for poor Aaron……If did not get his butt kicked EVERY night of the week, he would still have a job……

Since when has he ever been a part of any A team…He will always be second string……….

  8. Anderson Cooper gets his butt kicked everynight of the week… His demos aren’t even half of Greta’s and his overall viewership is a joke.
