Alison Stewart to host new MSNBC daytime series…
There’s a new hour long daytime series in the works at MSNBC. It has been in the works for some time now. The show is called “The Most” and will be hosted by Alison Stewart. While the format of the 3 pm ET show is still something of a mystery, it has been loosely described as fast paced and entertaining along the lines of “Countdown”. Admittedly that description is rather generic. Stewart had subbed many times on Countdown and was a natural at the job so if the show description I’ve heard is accurate she should do well on the program. I’m hearing a May 1st launch date but so far nothing is on the long range schedule…

It sounds good to me.

Didn’t Alison Stewert marry an MSNBC executive not long ago? Thought something was said about them “keeping it quiet” while they were dating. Can we look forward to other spouses, significant others, and family members landing their own shows in the future? In the interests of full disclosure and transparency, should nepotism that spills over into the public sector be disclosed? Just wondering…

I’m not going to tell you what I know but suffice it to say this show has been in the planning for months. Your insinuation is way off the mark…

Alison is one of the best at MSNBC, she’s entertaining and can handle breaking news. Whether her marriage had anything to do with the new spot, I don’t know.

Am I losing it, or did that say “The Works” this morning?
Comment by WestCoastBlogger — April 21, 2006 @ 4:27 pm
You’re losing it.

There are so many program changes in the “long range schedule” list. I checked 5-1 and 5-2, but didn’t pursue it any further.
Does anybody know anything?

The LRS link is coming up Pacific time. If you take that into account the only changes I see are KO @9am and RC @10pm.
Comment by Terance — April 21, 2006 @ 6:40 pm
That’s probably my fault since I’m in the Pacific Zone…

Sounds great. Alison is very intelligent, quick, with a good sense of humor. Her sensibility is somewhat similar to KO (also Ivy League educated–I believe–don’t want to be called a “LIAR”), so her show should also bring in a younger demographic for MSNBC.
I also think moving Scarborough after Countdown is a good idea, as long as he moves back to more political discussions and away from the tabloid.

I don’t think she is married yet, is she? Just engaged?
Anyway, while I wish her all the best, I do think this is one of those cases where it’s going to be hard to tell whether she got this plum job because she earned it, or because she became engaged to an MSNBC VP. After all, they had been quietly dating for about a year according to reports, so if it’s true that this show has been in the planning during that time, there may well always be a “chicken-and-egg” question about that.
Comment by tanne — April 23, 2006 @ 11:40 am
Yeah, I agree. When was the last time in any of MSNBC’s history that they gave a daytime anchor their own show? The only one I can recall is Lisa Daniels and look where that got her. As for Allison, I can only take so much of her before I reach for the remote.
Comment by bravesfan — April 23, 2006 @ 11:48 am
OH, and I don’t think it’s appropriate for on-air talent to be having relations with the executives ala Julie Chen/Les Moonves. Even if that isn’t how she got the job, the questions will still be there.

I like this Gal……..she is sharp and has just the right amount of dry wit to be great!
Can’t wait to see her new hour….

I can tell you that is patently not the case because this show was in the works before the engagement.

I used to love Alison Stewart when she did World News Now. You can see she is a cut above, but her sexy looks generates the kind of thinking we see on this page. I like her show, The Most. It is authentic and has a younger look compared to some of the other nonsense on the Cable News channels. Stewart shines, especially when you consider posers like Rita Cosby. Now when I get up in the early morn, I watch the daily rerun of The Most. I add her to my favorite “news” shows….The Daily Show, Countdown, Colbert and The Most. News sucks and you can’t change it, why not watch something that makes it enjoyable?

What’s the issue here? Criticize Alison Stewart? I’d like to see her host EVERY show on MSNBC (and/or any other network as well). She is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, and seems very cool to boot…

i love alison stewart! i think she does a wonderfull job. not to mention she is very easy on the eyes, i mean a real beauty!the way the “most” is put together is newer and hip, with the girating cameras and the pop music in the background. it will do well in bringing in younger viewers. we can say what we want but we all know that she has worked very hard to get where she is. now will this show or alisons career last with msnbc………i seriously doubt it. sorry alison, love ya girl, your great!
