MSNBC beats CNN in primetime Demo Friday…

While CNN has been making some noise in the Demo in the afternoon by beating FNC on certain programs recently, Friday MSNBC snuck up on CNN and stole 2nd place in the primetime Demo. This was a good news bad/news thing for MSNBC.

Good News: They beat CNN in the Demo.

Bad News: Friday was “Crimetime in Primetime” which meant no Live & Direct, Scarborough Country, or The Situation. If those shows can’t get MSNBC past CNN in the Demo but Crimetime can, that doesn’t bode well for the future of those shows or MSNBC.

  1. According to TVN’s numbers, they also beat CNN in not just demo — but TOTAL viewers in prime Saturday.

  2. I am pretty sure “Crimetime in Primetime” would beat Matthews and Olbermann as well, but we’ll never know, since MSNBC chose to only dump its conservative programming and Rita on Fridays.

It’s too bad, especially during an election year, that MSNBC opted for a miniscule ratings increase instead of allowing equal political debate from both sides to be aired on its venue.

  3. Missy the reason why MSNBC switched to this format on friday nights was because scarborough, rita, and carlson were doing so awful. It was downhill right after Olbermann and now it’s not. It’s downhill every night after Olbermann, the conservatives are just not doing very well for the network.

  4. yea..too bad MS can’t do that with its regular line up. Hey here’s a new slogan, tune in and watch the bs on ms every friday night!

  5. That slogan might work, if you assume the BS starts at 9 pm sharp.

Looks as if some people don’t want to admit something here–that while “Crime Time” may play well on MSNBC, so does Olbermann. And he plays better than Joe, Rita and Tucker.

Don’t ask me to explain this. I turn off at the end of Olbermann because frankly I have no interest in life in “the big house.” I’m sure I’m not alone. But maybe a new crew of viewers moves in to replace people like me so that MSNBC doesn’t feel the loss of the Olbermann viewers as much as it does when it replaces him with Joe, RIta and Tucker.
