Schonfeld on CNN’s aging audience…
Reese blogs about what’s happening with CNN’s audience…
The worst news for CNN is that its median age is back up to 65 still a year younger than Fox but 7 years older than last March. The worst for both networks: CNN’s prime audience composition is 77% adults 50+. Again Fox is worse with 83% of its audience 50+. SWEEPSBOOK does not have the 50+ numbers for MSNBC or Headline.
CNN recently hired John Roberts away from CBS and he shines amidst the mediocrity of most of the other CNN correspondents and even some anchormen. Nancy Grace, on the other hand, has added tens of thousands of viewers to Headline News. If CNN is going to change direction which way will it go; more John Roberts or more Nancy Graces?

Reese is old geezer himself who needs to give it up. I guess he’s seen where CNN has beening wining some in the key demo and his FNC pals urged him to spin the numbers.

WTF? John Roberts has been a major disappointment. If he doesn’t want me to think he’s a White House Shill, he needs to quit talking about how they ‘can’t catch a break’ and start admitting that their problems are of their own making.
Hey, John - people wouldn’t disapprove of the WH for spying on Americans if they weren’t, you know, spying on Americans. Stop acting like it’s just bad luck.

Well, John Roberts and Anderson Cooper on a split screen look pretty good to me!

The differences between the demos of each network are not what amazes me. Instead, it’s the fact that so few people are watching ANY cable or network news program. The couple of hundred thousand viewers we debate about on these boards when discussing ratings are just 0.1% of our entire population.
I’m more curious as to why more people are not watching more news at all.

Because the majority of anchors are boring with no personality . And there’s only so many people who care about politics or are news “junkies”. Besides, many stories I read about on the web sometimes takes days before the news channels get around to reporting on them, if at all.

CNN obviously needs more Grace’s or better yet, move Grace over to CNN. When a legal analyst is on par with a 25 yr old vet of news(Paula Zahn)something is wrong.

Paula Zahn is ratings poison, and some of those other CNN programs are ratings challenged. Until there is real leadership at CNN, nothing will change and these threads will continue.
