Scarborough Country to look at upcoming hurricane season…

MSNBC announced that on Monday Scarborough Country will devote the hour to looking at the upcoming hurricane season…

With the start of the 2006 hurricane season nearly a week away, a special edition of “Scarborough Country” on Monday, May 22 at 9 p.m. (ET) takes a look at this year’s forecast and the preparations already under way for what promises to be just as punishing a hurricane season as last year. “Storm Warning” kicks off national hurricane preparation week and will also take a look at what you can do to protect yourself.

Joe Scarborough reports from Biloxi, Mississippi, a beautiful coastal community that was nearly wiped off the map last year during Hurricane Katrina and is still struggling to come back. MSNBC’s Chief Meteorologist Sean McLaughlin will report live from the National Hurricane Center in Miami, a major U.S. city that has been pummeled several times over the past few years. The National Hurricane Center’s Max Mayfield will also give his official forecast for the 2006 season and Joe will speak with several other guests as he answers the big questions facing coastal residents including: How bad will this season be? Are New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast ready? Where are the vulnerable spots and what about coastal development and insurance? Hurricane season 2006 begins officially on June 1.

Olbermann a curmudgeon?

TVSquad’s Anna Johns writes a letter to Keith Olbermann and wonders what’s wrong with him lately…

Lately, however, you seem like a curmudgeon. Maybe it’s the Worst Person in the World segment. Or your new signoff, “It’s been XXX days since President Bush declared ‘Mission Accomplished’ in Iraq.” Or maybe the crap covered on MSNBC during the other 23 hours of the day is rubbing off on you. Or, is it because you had to toss to Rita Cosby as if she were hosting a legitimate news program?

O&A on H&C

Opie and Anthony will be on Hannity and Colmes tonight. Among the subjects covered will be the surprising backing of Opie and Anthony’s radio return by an unlikely source, Bill Donohue of Catholic League…

Opie: “…we were shocked that he [Bill Donohue] decided to support our move back to terrestrial radio.”

Anthony: “Finally a guy that’s not a hypocrite is what it is. Catholic religion based on forgiveness. We went on and recognized what we did over there was stupid. He didn’t hold a grudge like a lot of these groups, a lot of interest groups that get people fired, hold these grudges where they don’t want you working for the rest of your life.”

Jim Walton Q&A

USA Today’s David Lieberman has a Q&A with CNN’s Jim Walton

Q: Is Headline News the channel that you’ll use to deal with Fox while CNN does its thing?

A: Sure, let’s go after Fox. Why not?

Q: You said last year that if there’s a talk show on Headline News, there’ll be news on CNN. But Beck will be on at the same time as Larry King.

A: But we have CNN Pipeline now. We have a broadband channel that is up, and there is news on it. We felt comfortable that we’re doing our job in making sure that anybody who wants news at any time day or night anywhere in the world can get it on one of our services.
