Paula Zahn to be replaced by Collins and Roberts?

I missed this yesterday. The Rocky Mountain News’ Dusty Saunders speculates that Paula Zahn will be replaced by Heidi Collins and John Roberts…(via WHAC)

Rumors persist that Heidi Collins, formerly of 9News, will team with John Roberts, ex-CBS News reporter/anchor, on an hourlong program for CNN. One potential spot: Paula Zahn’s low-rated 6-7 weeknight hour.

  1. “Rumors persist?”

    Heidi called again, Dusty.

  2. John Roberts - looking good! And he is knowledgeable.
I don’t always agree with the slant he puts on the news.

  3. It would be a welcome change. But Kyra Phillips would be even better.

  4. I know it’s just a rumor but why not move Zahn to primetime on the weekends or at least send her back to AM where she belongs? The O’Briens are getting old.

  5. Poor Paula; I know people find her frosty, but I always liked her in the mornings.

  6. I think they made a good team filling in for AC360.

  7. Agree the O’Briens are getting old and Paula is suited to mornings.

But Heidi is the odds-on source for Dusty’s “persistent rumors.”

  8. John Roberts doesn’t need a co-host. He is one hundred times better than Collins, whose only claim to fame in the news business is that she occasionally appears on CNN. John Roberts, for the past several years, has the been the Chief White House Correspondent, Sunday anchor, and chief substitute for Dan Rather (and now Bob Schieffer) at CBS News. Getting Roberts was a score for CNN that made all the magazines and papers; very few people, however, have any idea who Heidi Collins is. If she ends up on a local station, it would be too good for her.

  9. Anything that’s going to keep John and Heidi from subbing on AC360 is fine with me. Don’t like ‘em.

  10. What’s odd is that these “persistent rumors” only appeared in print for the first time today. I’ve never read them before. Anywhere.

  11. Roberts - Good
    Heidi - Good…for fill-ins only

  12. I think Heidi is great. She is very intelligent, sophisticated and lets not forget her sex appeal. She can hold her own in any arena.
