Crowley to anchor on MSNBC?
An emailer writes in to note that on this morning’s Imus show, Monica Crowley was on and said that starting next week she’ll be anchoring at the 1 pm hour on Thursday and Fridays.
This says two things…
1) There’s no permanent anchor to fill in that slot.
2) Apparently Dan Abrams thinks political commentators make adequate substitute anchors. I wonder how the journalists at MSNBC feel about that?

When I think of Monica Crowley…All I see is Ron Reagan’s goofy smile! I’ll check it out though, and give her a chance just like everyone else gets.

she’s probably still on the payroll there, and they’ve been unable to think of a new format for her to host.

I don’t think she will be a substitute anchor. She will probably do an interview type show. She is really not qualified to do straight news anchoring and I can’t believe they would have her do that.

Well that makes no sense. Have a in interview show on Thursdays and Fridays only?

Well that’s true; it is only two days a week. But as little sense as it makes, it is still marginally more sensible than making a partisan pundit with little experience in anchoring hard news a hard news anchor! Particularly one whose strong point isn’t smooth, professional delivery.

It makes no sense to have one format for a timeslot only on a couple of days a week. Besides she said she’s anchoring the news. How much clearer does she need to be?

She’s okay. Didn’t she anchor on Fox? And why only the two days?

She never anchored on Fox that I saw. She was a “pundit”.

She subbed for Hannity on ‘Hannity and Colmes’ prior to being on MSNBC. What’s her background? Has she been a straight anchor in the past? Did she do journalism, political science, or Law School?
