it's a done deal...
Phoenix, AZ (July 13, 2006) – KPHO CBS 5 announced today that veteran broadcaster Sean McLaughlin will return to Phoenix to multiple roles including Chief Meteorologist, news anchor and reporter for CBS 5 News.

The announcement was made by Steven D. Hammel, CBS 5 Vice President and General Manager. "I am thrilled that Sean decided to return to Phoenix. His dedication to excellence and to his huge fan base here will serve our viewers well. Sean's re-uniting with Kent Dana will be a big plus for the quality that viewers have come to expect with CBS 5 News," said Hammel.

McLaughlin will join the CBS 5 News team early this fall once his duties as MSNBC weekday Chief Meteorologist and Sunday Meteorologist on NBC’s “Weekend Today” are wrapped up.

Local chat boards indicate that he could land in Phoenix at KPHO, as opposed to his former KPNX.
KPHO signed former KPNX anchor Kent Dana to a five year contract. Dana spent some 25 years at KPNX
If this is true, then the station that years ago had an eight minute 10pm, followed by "Seinfeld", is making some heavy handed moves in the Phoenix market,
KPHO recently unseated KPNX for #1 at 10:00 pm.
