He said WHAT?!?!
Crooks and Liars has video of Geraldo Rivera comparing his combat experience for the last 35 years to John Kerry’s…
Rivera: …To withdraw at a date certain. I’ve know John Kerry for over thirty five years. Unlike me-he is a combat veteran, so he gets some props, but in the last thirty five years, I’ve seen a hell of a lot more combat than John Kerry…
How many medals did Rivera win? Do I really have to comment on the idiocy of his statement?

Why is that statement idiotic? Oh yea cause Crooks and Liars says it? lol. He just said he isn’t a combat veteran like John Kerry and gives him props but in the last 35 years he’s been in the combat zone/ seen more combat whatever you want to call it more then him. That’s true. Also Kerry’s combat is soooo overated. Wasn’t he in Nam for 3 months got his 3 purple hearts and jetted back home? In the history of the Vietnam War or any other war? has someone gotten 3 Purple Hearts that quick and jetted home? and let’s not even get into those injuries that got him the Purple Hearts.

Spud, didn’t you just cringe when Kerry used to talk about his whopping three months of service, and the Purple Hearts he received for his flesh wounds? It was pathetic, when so many of our people in the military have served for YEARS! And didn’t we all used to think that Purple Hearts were for some grand heroic effort; some very grave injuries? Wasn’t it disappointing to see that Kerry received all three of his for flesh wounds. And as Lurker points out, he seemed to know how to game the system; he knew that obtaining three would get him out of the war zone pronto!!!
Kerry’s flaunting of his “heroics” for those three months showed disrespect for the efforts and character of those true military heroes deserving of such honor. ? I’d love to see him go to Walter Reed and tell those brave soldiers all about his injuries!
But Rivera was not diminishing Kerry’s efforts; he just meant, I believe, that he had more RECENT exposure and contact with the battlefield, albeit not in a military role.

I proofread the above but obviously missed a few things. My biggest mistake was an inappropriate “?”, so here’s that sentence again, about which there is certainly no question:
Kerry’s flaunting of his “heroics” for those three months showed disrespect for the efforts and character of those true military heroes deserving of such honor. PERIOD!!

No amount of “exposure” Missy can make up for actually having served. I’m no fan of Kerry, who was doomed to lose the moment he got nominated, but I thought Rivera was ridiculous.

Spud, I don’t believe Geraldo was in any way trying to equate his role as a reporter with that of Kerry’s, no matter what Kerry’s experience was. He probably should have just left himself out of it and said that Kerry and others who have been out of the military for years should leave the decisions to those who are currently serving or have served more recently.

Oh yes he was. It’s right there in black and white.

Maybe it’s not what he meant to say or how he meant to say it, but it’s what he said. And until he clarifies himself, which he won’t because nobody is going to care enough about this to harangue him about it until he comments, I’m not going to waste my time trying to figure out what he was trying to say…

How low can some of you go…to turn Geraldo Rivera’s ridiculous statement about “seeing more combat than John Kerry” into truth…and then proceed to repeat and recite every lie the swiftboaters ever told about Kerry…
I’m not a huge Kerry fan, but the facts about his service and how he earned his Purple Hearts are there for those who will not shut their eyes and ears for the sake of their politics. It doesn’t appear too many of them post here, though. Especially not if they are going to take it at face value that Jerry Rivers “saw more combat.” Sheesh!
