I wouldn't worry about criticism from Rummy. Rummy needs to worry about the stuff that comes out of his mouth and not the stuff that comes out of the anchors mouths.. last I checked, he's still got a pretty huge piece of his foot in his mouth himself.

Keep in mind that Williams' ability to judge things is flaky at best. During the Shock and Awe portioin of the Iraq War, Williams compared the precise surgical strikes in Baghdad to the wholesale bombing of Dresden in World War 2. Rumsfeld chewed him out the next day during a Pentagon briefing. He didn't mention Williams by name but he didn't have to because everyone knew who made the Dresden comparision.

To kick off the festivities, Dan Abrams and Brian Williams are quoted in a glowing column about their friend at TVNewser, who spins ratings for them daily. To make it funnier, TVN's own post disputes his total website hits for the month of July! Reminds us of the way he started spinning total viewer numbers with a select demo he pulled out of a hat!

I still have tape of MSNBC's first day, complete with the launch featuring current WNYW anchor Jodi Applegate and the original slogan: "It's time to get connected." I guess they didn't. :-) It's still interesting to see how much the network has changed.

I also still have my T-shirt commemorating the MSNBC launch... I visited the Today show the Friday before and they gave T-shirts and caps away outside the studio. Maybe they should have spent less on tschotschkes and more on programming?

Despite everything that has happened to Rita in the last few weeks (KO insult and show cancellation), she has been pretty dignified about it publicly.

I was home on medical with a broken leg when I first encountered MSNBC. They were covering the death of Sonny Bono, and I was just riveted to the TV. It was Sonny 24/7, and I think CNN dedicated the same amount of time to the subject. I was never a huge Sonny Bono fan but the way they covered things back then they really got you hooked!hat's how most

The morale question is an interesting one. You have to wonder what the feeling is over there these days.

Another question: Does Rita come to this? Hmmm...

WOW... that's hard to believe. I still remember when TWA 800 crashed. That was their 3rd night on the air.

So many changes, so many different personalities.

It's kind of sad in a way, I was in the middle of studying for the Bar Exam when the channel launched so I watched a lot of them during my study breaks and they really were great once. I'll never forget their coverage of TWA Flight 800 (I had a friend on that flight), it was outstanding.

Heh. A grammer freak must of wrote that... It's "iPod."

Anyways... Even though they're the competition, and there's nothing that I'd really go out of my way to watch on the network, I do congratulate MSNBC on 10 years in the biz. That really is a remarkable feat.
