Star to cable news?

The AP’s David Bauder writes about Star Jones’ post-View plans and notes that if she comes to cable it won’t be on FNC. CNN seems to be hedging on the matter though…

In Touch Weekly reported this week that both CNN and Fox News Channel have approached Reynolds about hosting jobs.

However, Fox News spokeswoman Irena Briganti said the network had no discussions with Reynolds and has “no interest” in hiring her. CNN spokeswoman Christa Robinson said there have been no conversations with Reynolds, although she didn’t rule out the possibility in the future.

CNBC’s Kernen fooled by Hollywood PR stunt…?

CNBC’s Joe Kernen reported on Squawk Box yesterday that the debut of Pirates of the Carribean had a record weekend opening at the box office beating out the previous record holder Aquaman. Just one problem though. There is no film about Aquaman. It was a clever Hollywood PR stunt to tie in with HBO’s Entourage. Here’s the video

UPDATE: Okay so maybe it wasn’t a hoax. Though that ad seems like a hoax to me since it played it straight….

UPDATE 2: Kernen apparently addressed this issue this morning and says he was joking. Anybody got video of this?

E-mail blunders…

The Sacramento Bee’s Cynthai Hubert uses Keith Olbermann as an illustration in a story about avoiding e-mail blunders…

Last month, his comments about fellow TV personality Rita Cosby showed up in the New York Daily News, and Olbermann had some explaining to do.

In a world where personal missives can instantly tour the globe with a click of the “send” or “forward” button, others have suffered far greater consequences. When they get into the wrong hands, indiscreet e-mails can cost people jobs, clients, business deals, even marriages.

“Never, ever write anything in an e-mail that you wouldn’t want on the front page of the New York Times,” said Suzanne Bates, a corporate communications specialist and author of the book “Speak Like a CEO, Secrets to Commanding Attention and Getting Results” (McGraw-Hill, $21.95 hardcover, 240 pages).

CNN correspondent onboard one of the Indian trains that was bombed…

CNN-IBN correspondent Jency Jacob was aboard one of commuter trains earlier today when the explosions occurred on multiple rails outside of Mubai, India. In the transcript below Mr. Jency describes what he experienced and witnessed when the explosions took place, including his observations of what he saw in the first class compartment which bore the brunt of the explosion.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Have you come to terms with what you saw, what, less than four hours ago, Jency?

JENCY JACOB, CNN-IBN CORRESPONDENT: Well, as journalists, we’re always proud about the fact that we are on the spot every time. But this is one train journey, not only just the passenger, my co-passengers, but even I would like to forget. Because I was just one compartment.

It was the first class compartment that — that bore the brunt of the entire explosion. Beyond, it was the woman’s compartment. And after that was the compartment in which I was traveling, between Santa Cruz and Khar (ph).

Grace gets explicit again…

Nancy Grace has been getting rather explicit again in the subject matter she talks about. Last night on her show she had Mark Lunsford on and went into what some would argue is too much graphic detail in describing Lunsford’s daughter Jessica’s murder to Lunsford himself. Later on the subject of sperm came up. Partial transcript follows…

GRACE: . . . I think that there is — from what we`ve heard, and we`re not going to know until the trial actually kicks off, what the evidence is, but the pretrial evidence suggests that there is going to be Jessie Lunsford`s blood on John Evander Couey`s mattress. We are going to certainly find fibers that connect her body to the inside of his home. Her little hands, 9 years old, were tied with speaker wire. Certainly, that`s going to be traceable back to its owner`s speakers, to the stereo. The body of this little girl was found, we believe, buried alive, along with a little stuffed animal her dad had just given her, very near where Couey was shacking up.

In response to your question about his family also living there in the mobile home, they are not facing any charges. And I`m just wondering — out to Mark Lunsford — there is no way these people did not know a 9-year- old girl, in a mobile home, people, was in the next room. How could they not know that? According to Couey, she was in there for many days. What about it, Mark?

_______________
Why he rides: “It’s pure fun. When you’re out in front of a cow–that is a ride. Plus, the people are great. My friends in the Muenster Cutting Horse Association got together and gave me a ‘mercy buckle.’”
