  1. Let’s hope that Mike and Juliet will follow him (off the show, at least).

  2. “Because the Fox News PR department currently chooses not to speak to TVNewser, a spokesperson confirmed the firing to ICN this afternoon.”

Hmmm that’s interesting. I thought TVN and FNC were buds? What happened there??

  3. So TV newser says fox told this site what happened because they won’t talk to him. i know he’s not always a fox fan, but it’s that awfully, awfully petty?

  4. Good job scooping TVNewser on confirming. If he was fair to all cable networks, and not busy promoting MSNBC while putting down FOX, CNN, and CNN Headline News, people wouldn’t be turning their backs on him.

  5. Responding to Lance: yes, that is very petty. Responding to Anonymous: it’s been obvious for some time that TVN is buddies with MSNBC, and no one else.

  6. That’s baloney…

  7. NewsBusters disagrees, check the latest post about the NY Times article.

  8. Newsbusters is not an unbiased source of information…it’s about as unbiased as Newshounds…

    Comment by Spud — July 11, 2006 @ 6:13 pm

  9. Well if newsbusters says so it must be true.

Btw I remember when people thought TVNewser (maybe he was still cable newser then) was biased against MSNBC and towards FNC, funny how things change.

  10. And what exactly does the NewsBusters article on the NYT Olbermann piece have to do with establishing the existence of a relationship between TVN and MSNBC?

    Comment by Spud — July 11, 2006 @ 6:19 pm

  11. If you’re talking to me, I was trying to be sarcastic. I think all these call of bias are just B.S. To say TVNewser is biased towards msnbc would be to ignore the quips he throws at them (deservedly so IMO).

  12. Back to the original topic of this thread, I don’t know how responsible Zorich was for the content of Dayside, but it certainly needed a change. The two show hosts Huddy and Jerrick just aren’t professional together (Huddy’s fine when she works with others, but Jerrick is an embarrassment), and the show is quite mediocre altogether. It just seems very off putting to me when one second you’re watching a report of a major bombing somewhere and the next is a segment about the Miami beach patrol with Huddy fawning all over two half naked men. Maybe if it was E! and not a news channel it would feel so stupid.

  13. If you’re talking to me,

No I was talking to Jack.

    Comment by Spud — July 11, 2006 @ 6:42 pm

  14. I don’t know. Jerrick and Huddy aren’t that professional during some subjects (especially today!) but it’s something fun to watch at lunchtime where you can get your hard news and light fare at the same time. It’s not like if breaking news occurs during the hour, they won’t scrap whatever they have to go it immediately.

Anonymous: As I said here last week, it was the phony asbestos scandal at the Fox Building reported by TVNewser. Ailes took a shot at little boy Brian and his reporting has not been fair and balanced since!

    Comment by Ira — July 11, 2006 @ 7:40 pm

  16. Oh thanks Ira…I didn’t know that was the incident that got FNC mad.

  17. Steve and Ira,

You are both talking out of your hat.

    Comment by Robert Cox — July 11, 2006 @ 9:22 pm

  18. “You are both talking out of your hat.”

Care to expound on your theory?

    Comment by Steve — July 11, 2006 @ 9:51 pm

  19. It wasn’t asbestos Ira it was mold due to the extensive leaking. It was also the spraying of an illegal chemical to address a problems with bugs in the building. So Robert Cox was right to say you were talking out of your hat. I work there and know these things to be true though none of it has affected my health.

  20. Dang, no wonder FNC PR has adopted FTV Live and ICN. Can’t wait for one of them to piss them off.

    Comment by Cable News Watcher — July 11, 2006 @ 10:20 pm

  21. I agree that Jerrick and Huddy can go overboard sometimes trying to be cute and funny. But, I’ve seen them do serious interviews too and they do them well. While I think that FNC is miles ahead of CNN and MSNBC in terms of both quality and popularity, some fine tuning does need to take place.
As for TV Newser, I’m not going to get into whether he is biased or not. My only comment is that he has a good site but is rather young;for the sake of his own self-interest, he should work to be “fair and balanced” with all the networks. He may need them for a job or a reference later. (and yes I know I sound really old; I am over 40 now)

  22. Piecing together the details from the various combatants in this thread, I conclude that FNC refuses to talk to TVNewser because Brian wore a hat filled with mold while taking a shot at asbestos sprayed with an illegal chemical.

    Am I close? ;-)

    Comment by David — July 11, 2006 @ 10:41 pm

  23. Bucky & Robert: Whether it was asbestos, black mold or whatever, after that incident (which Stetler attempted to portray as another “Love Canal”)and Ailes’ subsequent statement that Brian was attempting to be a journalist, my observation is that the TVNewser coverage of FNC changed.

    Just my opinion, guys!

    Comment by Ira — July 12, 2006 @ 12:25 pm

  24. Poor choice by Fox as loosing Peter Zorich is probably the last nail in DaySide’s coffin. However, being the talented Producer that Peter Zorich is, I’m sure that his skills will be put to better use elsewhere!
