MSNBC uses Producer to handle breaking news…

Tonight during the 6pm repeat of Tucker (I’ll ignore asking the obvious question of why MSNBC is putting on a repeat when it should be live given the fluidity of the Middle East situation) Tucker producer Willie Geist handled the breaking news about a bunker bombing in Beruit. The general consensus on the MSNBC board and comments I’ve received is he did a good job. But I have to ask the question…wasn’t there an anchor available at NBC or MSNBC to do this? Nothing against Geist but what on earth is a producer doing handing a breaking news situation in MSNBC’s studios? On location where no anchor would be available, yeah, I could see that. But this just strikes me as very odd…

  1. Tucker is hosting MSNBC’s 10pm Special Report tonight.

  2. Missy mentioned Tucker’s “Beat The Press” segment in another thread. While Carlson is anchoring from Israel, Geist has been handling “Beat The Press.”

My opinion: Both Geist and “Beat the Press” need to go!

  3. Carlson is the one who needs to go. Geist is the best part of this program!
