Nooooooooooooooo!
MSNBC was broadcasting a car chase at around the 11:50 am hour. Say what you will about Rick Kaplan but at least he kept those idiotic things off the air…
UPDATE: Grrrrrrr…FNC and HLN are covering it too. At least CNN is showing some restraint…

“We interrupt this war to bring you an idiot in a car chase that desperately is seeking the attention that can only be given by nationwide televising of a car chase.”

Well after looking at HLN’s ratings during the last car chase, I don’t blame them…

I do. Just because something can generate ratings doesn’t mean it belongs on cable news.

I wonder when NBC changed their policy of not showing car chases live on the air? MSNBC wasn’t allowed to show them in the past… it wasn’t a Kaplan mandate…

Did anyone see Glenn Beck’s show the other day in which he had cut ins of old car chases including OJ Simpson and a clip from a Steve McQuinn movie through out his show? It was quite funny especially because all the cars kept changing throughout the show. He said they did it just to get ratings.

Spud says:”Just because something can generate ratings doesn’t mean it belongs on cable news.”
FNC does it all the time all day. Debate, opinions and other silliness crap DOES NOT BELONG ON A NEWS CHANNEL. But FNC puts in on there and calls it NEWS!

So what you’re saying CNW, is that there are no cable news channels, or any news channels for that matter? And NBC, ABC, and CBS’s morning shows aren’t news shows?
Interesting perspective.

Before anyone gets too excited, I might add that the chase was all over by 12:05-ish and FNC picked up war coverage right where it left off.
Unfortunately, nothing changed in the approximately 15 minutes that they devoted time to something else.

Those car chases insult the viewing public’s intelligence!

Maybe they’re juvenile, insulting the public’s intelligence, etc. But they are simply riveting, and it sounds like they garner a huge audience!

Missy is right - like it or not, people are literally glued to the tube when they come on.
Everyone knows it, and thus everyone shows them (CNNi notwithstanding).

I’m waiting to see who will be the first person to blame all of this on Keith Olbermann.
