Centanni and Wiig on On The Record…

FNC’s website has a write up on Tuesday’s edition of On The Record with Greta Van Susteren which featured an exclusive one hour interview with Steve Centanni, Olaf Wiig, and family members…

“I told them, ‘I need you to tell me about it (Islam),’” Wiig said he told his captors. “ They discussed how the problems of the Muslim world and the west could be solved if the west converted to Islam… then it got sinister,” he said.

“They believed he (Centanni) was CIA, FBI, an informer for the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces)… that he was there as a spy, an American soldier in Iraq,” Wiig said.

“I said, ‘he’s just a journalist… a friend of the Palestinian people,” Wiig said.

“The first thing I said was, ‘this is just great,’” Centanni said, describing the moment the two journalists came to face to face with the gunmen.

“There was no place to get away,” Wiig said. “We were on a narrow street…there was no where to drive.”

  1. What a compelling story both the guys had to tell. I’m so glad I tuned in to watch it. It’s wonderful to see that Steve of Olaf are alive and well and were able to tell their story.

  3. I want more!!! I loved watching Steve and Olaf tell their story. I had no idea how much of a role Jennifer Griffen had in trying to get them released. I admire Jennifer for her courage and if I am ever in trouble I want her on my team. I want more, an hour was not enough for me. I want to know what their days were like and did they sleep and what are their plans for the future and will they work together again and will FOX hire Anita (I like her, she is another great woman) and so on. More, more, more, tell, tell, tell. Steve and Olaf looked in good spirits and I am so glad of that. I can not wait for more info.

  4. Me too Noelle! I really hope they will write a book.

And Jennifer Griffin’s story was extremely compelling too, especially when she talked about how dangerous it was for their Jerusalem bureau chief to go into Gaza since he is Israeli.

  5. This was one of the most compelling stories I have ever seen. Literally breathtaking. I kept waiting to exhale.
The men were so modest. They were not ego involved with the story - just quiet in demeanor. The facts were so riveting that there was no need for histrionics.
Sure FNC will repeat this program.
