Phillips open mic…continued.

Rush and Molloy dish on the fallout…

We told you yesterday how CNN viewers heard anchor Kyra Phillips going to the bathroom and talking girl talk during a live speech by President Bush. Among other things, Phillips called her brother’s wife “a control freak.” Phillips’ in-law, who asked not to be named, tells us the anchor has not yet called to apologize …

  1. Kyra must have been “FLUSHED” with embare-ass-ment.

  2. If she has to apologize, she needs to do it on her next TV appearance. That’s where she said those words, and that’s where she should make amends. Mea culpas to in-laws, however, are hard to do. If Kyra meant what she said, an apology would mean a retreat from her convictions. Whatever she decides to do next, she has a dilemma to face.

  3. It doesn’t shock me that she has not apologized yet. To talk that way about your sister-in-law in such a way that she did and the tone in her voice when she spoke about her sounds like she truely does not like this woman and they probably have had words in the past. So I bet there is no love lost in this one either way. In-laws, don’t we all love ours?
Someone mentioned on here or elsewhere that towards the end of her conversation the control room made her conversation louder. If you listen to it, it does get louder and more audible towards the end. Interesting.

  4. Roger, LOL!

But for all we know, maybe the sister-in-law IS a control freak, and needs to let up on Kyra’s brother. Maybe the sister-in-law should take a look at herself and see if maybe Kyra’s got a point?

  5. She shouldn’t mention anything on air about it. MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIVES PEOPLE. The world isn’t coming to an end. Mentioning mistakes on air is something that FOX would do to keep themselves part of the story.

  6. I agreed with you til your last telling sentence Nobody. You do that a lot. Is it any wonder you can’t ever win anyone over?

  7. gee, erljr-something hit a nerve? The FOX hype-machine really scrambled your brain into thinking they’re actually fair and balanced-huh? Yeah, and air America radio is right down the middle, too…goodness..

  8. Kyra is supposed to be on David Letterman tonight. That should be a hoot!

  9. UPDATE: Kyra is doing Letterman’s top 10. Should be good.

  10. “Nobody” wants everyone to just move on, but Kyra on the other hand doesn’t want to move on herself. Being on the Letterman show, shows she is trying to milk it as long as she can. In show biz- Any publicity is good publicity. It is not a FOX thing or a MSNBC thing or a CNN thing. It is just life.

  11. I would add Noelle (I love that name) that talking about it, and poking fun at yourself, helps people to move on. Hiding away makes things linger; and makes it HARDER to move on. Now the sister-in-law needs to. Maybe she can come up with a top-ten. It might help Kyra stop seeing her as a control freak.
rik: I don’t get what you are TRYING to say to me. Maybe my IQ is just too high to understand you. It just doesn’t make sense. Anybody?

  12. A technical question for IceMan: If you’re reading, you seem to understand how this stuff works. What happens when they go to commercial? It seems to me it would be a new feed, just like the President’s speech, so the anchor wouldn’t even have to turn off their mike. Is that accurate?
