HLN notes…
CNN is pleased with HLN’s progress in primetime this week vs. MSNBC in the coveted Demo…
On Tuesday:
- Glenn Beck beat Hardball in the demo last night! In fact, HLN owned MSNBC last night in the demo.
HLN beat MSNBC in every hour from 6p-11p among P25-54:
- Prime News w/ Erica Hill (156k) beat MSNBC’s Tucker (92k) by 70%.
- Glenn Beck at 7p delivered the program’s largest key demo audience to date with 275k, out-delivering MSNBC’s Hardball w/ Chris Matthews (148k) by 86%.
- Nancy Grace at 8p delivered the program’s largest P25-54 audience of the year (340k) to beat MSNBC’s Countdown w/ Keith Olbermann (187k) by 82%.
- Glenn Beck’s 9p replay was ahead of MSNBC’s Scarborough Country by 23% (169k vs. 137k) and was the hour’s highest key demo delivery to date.
- Nancy Grace at 10p out-delivered MSNBC Special: Rising from Ruin by 62% (228k vs. 141k).
- Showbiz Tonight at 11p beat MSNBC Investigates by 38% (150k vs. 109k).
- Nancy Grace at 8p beat MSNBC’s Countdown w/ Keith Olbermann by 4% (224k vs. 216k).
- Glenn Beck beat its MSNBC competition at both 7p (121k) and 9p (207k) among P25-54 viewers. At 7p, Glenn Beck was ahead of Hardball w/ Chris Matthews (100k) by 21% and at 9p was ahead of Scarborough Country (114k) by 82%.

Oh, what a BLOW for KO! Getting beat by a canned show which is much more interesting to watch than his own. Maybe its about time Beck starts getting some “respect” for his accolades!

Headline News is inching closer and closer to ousting MSNBC. It’s fun to watch the ratings continue to fall for that horrendous operation in Secaucus.

I have been keeping an eye on Glen’s show and it is progressively getting better. Now I rarely miss it. Shep Smith might also need to worry along with KO. Today Spud is touting KO’s book as “soaring” on Amazon. Cannot believe so manypeople are so stupid. His show should be interesting tonight with the news today on Joe Wilson. (Sorry, didn’t mean to change the subject)

Um, where is Spud saying that? I believe you’re referring to Keith Olbermann’s #1 PR flunky: Brian Stelter of TVNewser.

Yes, Alfonso, you are right, Brian on Mediabistro.

Uh, Oh…look’s like Dan Abram’s job may be in jeopardy if the numbers don’t improve. Maybe it’s time for MSNBC to bring back Rita Cosby. (Just kidding, of course.) That being said, I must admit that Tucker’s show has vastly improved. With the summer, and so many of the regular hosts on vacation, it’s hard to be sure that this trend will continue.

Hmmm, this is very interesting. if Countdown gets beat by Nancy Grace one lousy week in the ratings, Terance says this proves Grace’s show is more “interesting” to watch. Sophia claims that if sales of Olbermann’s book are soaring on Amazon, that only goes to show how unbelievable it is that “so many people are so stupid.”
Hmmm…how do you know that it’s not the other way around? How do you know that Grace’s show didn’t beat Olbermann’s in the ratings because so many people are so stupid, and Olbermann’s book isn’t selling well on Amazon because it is more interesting than anything Grace could write?
Oh, excuse me. I asked an intelligent question about your contradictions in logic.
Anyway, if Olbermann’s Amazon sales continue to be as good as they are, looks like you guys already have your “explanation” at the ready. “Quick, switch from ‘Popularity equals truth’ to ‘Lots of people are stupid!’ Yeah, that’s the ticket!” Of course, back when Bill O’Reilly’s books were selling, that wasn’t the explanation, was it? Then, it was “Popularity equals truth.” Yeah. Sure…

I see your point tanne; but why answer contradictions in logic with some truth,… and some MORE contradictions in logic? It’s not “one lousy week.” And I say that as someone who can’t sit through a whole hour of Nancy Grace, but can easily stomach Countdown for the whole hour.
