E.D. Hill to Fox News Live…

ICN has learned that E.D. Hill is moving to the 10am ET hour of Fox News Live . She will do first half hour from 10-10:30am with Jon Scott, will anchor 10:30-11:30am alone, and will anchor 11:30am-12pm with Bill Hemmer. Hill is replacing Brigitte Quinn who had the exact same schedule.

UPDATE: Here’s FNC’s release announcing the move…

FOX News Channel (FNC) today named E.D. Hill a new member of the FOX News Live anchor team, announced Bill Shine, Senior Vice President of Programming. Hill will anchor FOX News Live from 10 AM-12PM/EST beginning Monday, September 25th.

In making the announcement Shine said, “E.D.’s versatility and strength in anchoring in-depth and breaking news stories will be a powerful addition to the FOX News Live team.”

Most recently, Hill served as co-host of FNC’s signature morning program FOX & Friends, where she interviewed such noteworthy personalities as First Lady Laura Bush, Senator John Kerry, Senator John McCain and celebrities such as Halle Berry and Orlando Bloom. Hill was also instrumental in FNC’s breaking coverage of the events on the morning of September 11th.

  1. will Kiran Chetry get Hill’s spot on Fox and Friends?

  2. Who knows?

  3. I have no doubt that ED will do great in that timeslot, but I’ve got to question why they’re breaking up the great on-screen chemistry of the F&F gang. They were all so perfect for each other, it’s sad to hear that it’s being tampered with.

    Comment by Charles — September 22, 2006 @ 12:49 pm

  4. I figured ED Hill would be in that chair until she was carried out. But, the good news is FNC has finally woken up and realized a lot of people are actually “turned off” by ED, including me. And i’ll bet ED isn’t too happy about this! So, I predict after her contract runs out she’ll be gone. Good Riddance!

    Comment by Terance — September 22, 2006 @ 12:54 pm

  5. ED is a journalist? Looks bad putting a talk show host in the anchor chair. It’s easy to go from anchor chair to talk show host but doesn’t one lose credibility when u do the opposite?

    Comment by Stud — September 22, 2006 @ 12:58 pm

  6. ED brings experience as a journalist to FNC and it doesn’t matter if she’s in an anchor chair or a talk show host.
She asks the hard questions and that probably won’t change.
I’m looking forward to seeing ED in her new role.

  7. Perhaps the time is coming when Fox News should consider transforming the 3-6AM Pacific Time period into hard news programming. ED is—or was—”Fox & Friends.” If they give someone like Kiran Chetry the center chair, I think it would be suicidal. Someone like Lauren Green or Alisyn Camerota would be acceptable. Nevertheless, scrapping “F&F” for hard news programming would, IMHO, would be a better idea. This would not only give Lauren, but maybe the Patti Ann Brownes and Uma Pemmarajus, who have been largely banned from hosting, a chance to get much more ample time. Heck, if Donna Fiducia is still on the FNC payroll, she might even get a shot.

  8. I like ED just fine, but I’ve always felt that she lacked spontanaity. At times she seems wooden and rehearsed. I think Kirin would be a great addition to the Steve and Brian hijinks. She’s much brighter than ED and quicker on the uptake. The weekend F&F has been dreary for awhile since they started switching people around. I was happy to see the egocentric Julian bite the dust, but they’ve just never come up with a new threesome with good chemistry.

  9. I’ve been wondering where Donna Fiducia and Carol Iovanna have gone lately. They’re still on the bio list, but MIA on air. Donna is very good. Lively, good personality and seems to be a good journalist.

I hope they don’t scrap F&F! I work all day at the computer with Fox on in the background, and there is plenty of hard news for me. I look forward to the lighter F&F in the early morning.

  10. Why did Bridget Quinn leave…or did she?
Why are there all those changes, I don’t know any more who will host a program…..ED Hill is no journalist..who will replace her?? God, I used to switch Fox on and knew who would be on, but no more..I hate it!!
PattiAnn and Uma are totally overlooked,I just don’ get it!

  11. Good!!!!!!!! ED has been a tedious wet blanket on F & F for way too long. Hopefully the lovely Kiran Chetry will get the center chair. She has the quickness, wit and bubbly personality that a light-hearted morning show needs. The only other option would be Alisyn Camerota.
    Good riddance ED!

  12. For those who don’t know, E.D. Hill is a brainy woman. That sometimes can be masked by her good looks. She was, and may still be, enrolled in a Master’s degree program at Harvard’s Kennedy School of gGovernment (one of its most notable products is that of everybody’s icon - the one and only Bill O’reilly.)

I expect E.D. to do quite well in this new program. This is, I think, a step in the right direction, just as Katie Couric did in her morning show to become the CBS anchor.
Welcome to your new world, E. D.

    Comment by RGL — September 22, 2006 @ 2:05 pm

  13. Jon Scott has some big shoes to fill. The dynamic between ED, Steve and Brian is one in a million. ED should spice things up around the set of Fox News Live.

    Comment by craig — September 22, 2006 @ 2:08 pm

  14. ED brainy? LOL! Time to clean my coffee off the screen. Being a loud contrarian does not equal braininess. ED has always been big on bluster & pretentiousness, yet short on substance. Graduate schools are always happy to admit non-traditional age celebrities into their programs. It’s DEFINITELY no indicator of intelligence.

    Comment by spiffo — September 22, 2006 @ 2:16 pm

  15. No need to feel threatened by a woman who has it all Spiffo. Clearly, you have a chip on your shoulder about not getting into graduate school. ED actually knows a thing or two about politics and I’ve noticed she really does her homework - which I can’t say for other folks on the air.
Gotta give the lady credit. She has survived in this business for as long as she has b/c she’s got a little bit of this and a little bit of that. And some.

  17. It’s just been announced that Gretchen Carlson will replace E.D. on Fox & Friends. I kind of thought that Gretchen would get it. She’s just okay in my book, but I guess that they didn’t have anyone else.

    Comment by california dreamin — September 22, 2006 @ 3:14 pm

  18. Hmmmm, no mention of her stint as a VH-1 VJ? Now wonder why that is?

The only thing ED knows about politics is whatever she gleaned from Bill O’Reilly while co-hosting on his radio show.

  19. Wow, this came out of nowhere! Still, she once hosted Fox News Live waaay back in the late 90’s if I remember right.

    Comment by Chris — September 22, 2006 @ 3:46 pm

  20. I remember back in 1999 when E.D. hosted an hour of what was then still called “Fox News Now.”

    Comment by Bob — September 22, 2006 @ 4:24 pm

  21. I am not surprised at all and it was long over due. Remember after 911 F&F started at 6am and ED never wanted to be there at 6am - she’s also very controlling always wanting to do the best interviews. I really never liked her and I can only imaging all the problems that Brian and Steve had with her. This is the truth!

    Comment by semby — September 22, 2006 @ 4:47 pm

  22. I can’t stand the way Doocy and E.D. have been so condescending to Brian Kilmeade! This morning, before E.D. got there, Doocy interrupted Brian constantly! I was half asleep, and the next thing I saw was Brian standing off to the side. Then they went to a commercial break, and Brian was NOT happy.

Next, E.D. came on, and thank God, I had to start getting ready to leave the house. I just hate it the way she and Doocy would condescend toward Brian. So I’m glad the team of Doocy and Hill has broken up, although I do appreciate E.D.’s defense of our government at times.

  23. I am stunned at this news. These three hosts were so perfect together. I don’t get it! I can’t see Gretchen paired successfully with these two zany guys.
The real reason I watch that show, however, is because of Brian. I believe that the teasing between Brian and the other two hosts was part of the game plan. He played the role of the blunderer to perfection.

  24. What happened to Brigette Quinn???

    Comment by Noelle — September 22, 2006 @ 5:54 pm

  25. I hope you’re right, cella, but I often got the impression that they were way too hard on Brian. I’ve even written in to the program at times asking them to lay off him!

Noelle, I don’t know about Brigette, but I did see her on a few Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons fairly recently co-anchoring with other Fox anchors. I read a few weeks ago that she needed time off for family reasons, so maybe they’ll just use her sporadically in an “as needed” role. I think she’s very good at anchoring and hope she stays at Fox.

  26. Not surprisingly, I notice that Little Boy Brian has posted some garbage from a likely phony “tipster” about tension on the set of F&F.

Also I wonder whether E.D. will still appear on the Radio Factor Mondays and Tuesdays.

    Comment by Ira — September 22, 2006 @ 7:33 pm

  27. Just to clarify, my post discussed Brian Kilmeade, of Fox and Friends.

Ira’s post refers to another Brian, Brian Stetler, of TVNewser fame.

  28. E.D. will do quite well. She has that terrific combination of looks, talents, and personality. Am just wondering what had happened to Brigitte. She was another solid girl.

    Comment by RGL — September 22, 2006 @ 11:18 pm

  29. Missy: Thanks for the clarification.

Maybe now that he has finally reached his 21st birthday I’ll have to be more respectful and give Stelter a new, more mature, nickname!

  30. They both have great legs!

    Comment by zippy — September 27, 2006 @ 4:08 pm

  31. E.D. was the best personality on Fox & Friends. They did not even give a proper goodbye. You can’t have 3 “funny characters” together. You have to have balance. She’s very intelligent. Fox has made a big mistake in placing Gretchen in E. D.’s spot. Gretchen has a spacey way about her. I don’t like it. Maybe E. D. will leave for more $$ like Paula Zahn did. I bet Paula’s glad she’s not with Fox anylonger. Fox has been making bad judgement calls lately.

  32. We have been loyal Fox and Friends watchers from the beginning and love Steve, E.D. and Brian….their chemistry has been wonderful. We were shocked on Monday to learn that E.D. would no longer be with the show, after no mention of her leaving on Friday and this just before they will celebrate 10 years on the air tomorrow. We are saddened and miss her so much…..surely she could have explained the move, said goodbye to us. Gretchen Carlson is very good, but E.D. was just perfect with her great sense of humor (to go along with Steve and Brian) as well as her knowledge of world events and interviewing skills. It won’t be the same without her. We don’t believe we are getting the whole story.

  33. I agree that they have broken up a perfect set. F&F will never be the same. Gretchen seems like a nice person, but what a DULL personality. She just doesn’t have it. I now find myself channel surfing constantly from 7-9AM hoping to find something of interest on morning news.

  37. Noone can replace ED. Gretchen is a nice person but does not have ED’s personality. Kiran is cute but talks much too fast. I just can’t enjoy F&F without ED.

    Comment by Pat Dowden — October 12, 2006 @ 4:52 pm

  38. ED is not ready for prime time hard news…who wants to know about her teenagers or her personal opinions. Jon Scott and Bridget….ED is quite a come down in comparison.

  39. E.D. Hill has everything - looks, intelligence, and most importantly sincerity, which no one else on TV has. I miss her in the mornings, and can’t tune in at 10am due to work. Gretchen lacks looks and sincerity, Kiran lacks sincerity and somewhat a little lacking in the brains dept., too - The show isn’t the same anymore.

    Comment by Alan — October 19, 2006 @ 9:42 am

  40. E.D. we need you back on Fox and Friends. No offense to your replacement, but you made the mornings perfect for Mothers on Strike! You have been one of the strongest women of Fox. I looked foward to your strength and outspokeness against Steve and Brian. You made it so fun to watch. Please come back. We need you in the morning!

  42. O my god this crazy lady is sexist. She referred to men as “they” and while announced a news story about two boys blowing up a Wal-Wart she specifically had an upbeat, sexist tone for the word “boys” singling the word out. I think shes sexist in a bad manner and should go play with oncoming traffic.

  43. We all loved E.D.! It has not been the same without her. Rachael gets on my nerves, she tries to explain things to us like we were little kids. If they change one more thing on that show, our family will be out of there!
