Countdown gets book exclusive…

Countdown with Keith Olbermann broadcast exclusive excerpts of a new book critical of the Bush Administration; “Tempting Faith” last night. Part 2 of this segment runs tonight. MSNBC put the segment up as part of a press release

In our third story tonight, a COUNTDOWN exclusive, we`ve obtained a copy and it is a devastating work. Author David Kuo`s constrictive Christian credentials are impeccable. His resume sprinkled with names like Bennett and Ashcroft.

Now as the Foley cover-up has many Evangelical Christians wondering whether the GOP is really in sync with their values, “Tempting Faith,” provides the answer. Kuo citing one example after another of a White House that repeatedly uses Evangelical Christians for their votes while consistently giving them nothing in return. A White House which routinely speaks of the nation`s most famous Evangelical leaders behind their backs with contempt and derision.

Furthermore, Faith-Based Indicatives were not only stiffed on one public promise after another by Mr. Bush, the office itself was eventually forced to answer an even higher calling, the electing Republican politicians. Kuo`s bottom line, the Bush White House is playing millions of American Christians for suckers.

  1. Yawn. I’m sure Keith is a real crusader for Evangelicals.

  2. “Christian credentials..”? A blaring example of how lefties still just don’t get it.

  3. This is yet another example of the Mediacrats trying to depress/suppress evangelical turnout.

I wait for the day Olby has a conservative who isn’t bashing the administration on his show. But since his ratings (Demo or no demo) stink, it doesn’t matter.

  4. It’s probably a misprint, but “constrictive” Christian credentials says it all. This plays to the left and isn’t going to change one vote.
Foley may lose a few Republican votes, but the insinuation that this hurts the President is fallacious; Christian conservatives need only look to his one and only veto in six years to determine his allegiances.

  5. You guys see the tease for Dobermann’s show tonight? Woohoo! After tonight’s show Evangelicals will be flocking over to the RATS.

  6. Well, another kiss and tell book? I am surprised Olbermann likes it, considering his experiences with kiss and tell.

  7. Book shows once again how Bush & Friends lied and cheated the very people who support them the most; posters at ICN react:

Comment 1: Yawn - I don’t believe the messenger (and not the original messenger, the messenger who is reporting about the messenger’s message)

Comment 2: “Righties” are being proven to be dupes before my very eyes, but it’s the “Lefties” that don’t get it.

Comment 3: It’s the “Liberal Media” again! (Not the conservative Christian author of the book) Plus, Olbermann’s ratings stink, so this book must not be at all credible.

Comment 4: The book won’t matter in the election. (fair enough)

Comment 5: I’ve been duped too, but dammit I’ve stuck with them this long I ain’t about change my ways now…commmence mockery!

Comment 6: I will ignore the message and take another opportunity to attack the messenger. This helps me suppress the growing feeling in my gut that maybe these guys I so blindly support really AREN’T very honest and honorable people after all.

  8. Has TV news come to this? A guy READS portions of a new book on the air. He likes the book because it makes bashes his enemies. But he can’t even get the author to show up on the program.

    And this is newsworthy because?

  9. If you can’t figure out why the book is newsworthy, then you’re not too bright - but I suspect you understand perfectly well.

As for not getting the author:

    http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-faith13oct13,0,3875008.story?coll=la-home-headlines

“Kuo is scheduled to appear Sunday on CBS’ “60 Minutes” as part of a rollout arranged by his publisher, Simon & Schuster, which shares a corporate parent with CBS.

Despite a publisher-enforced embargo, a copy of the book was purchased early at a Manhattan bookstore by a producer for MSNBC’s “Countdown,” a spokesman for the cable channel said. Program host Keith Olbermann began reading excerpts on his Wednesday show.”

  10. Thanks for the link What a Bunch.
There are several terms and quotes that have come directly from our current President: “Strategery,” “War on Terror,” “The soft bigotry of low expectations,” “We will not tire. We will not falter. We will not fail.” But the first two were “compassionate conservatism,” and “faith based initiative.”
It appears Kuo wrote a book quoting various low-level office workers in the break room. I doubt many Christian conservatives are going to ignore the stem cell veto because some low paid grunts were overheard in the break room. And it’s no secret to Christian conservatives that the faith-based initiatives were and are being used to get out the vote. All of the sources are anonymous; and he makes many claims about the 2004 campaign, although he left the White House in 2003.
Actually, Olbermann and L.A. Times writer Wallsten could just be picking out selected quotes that seem to bash the President and his White House.
Remember, only two-thirds of Evangelicals vote Republican in the first place. There are very few who read the L.A. Times or watch Countdown, but I’m betting quite a few watch 60 Minutes. Let’s see what 60 Minutes says.

  11. William, it is only newsworthy for those who, like Sportsguy Keith, suffer from BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome).
