Fisking Olbermann’s Kuo report?
Extreme Mortman does an “Olbermann Watch” and tries to clear up a few things about Keith Olbermann’s report on David Kuo’s new book…
Olbermann may have found delight in reporting Kuo’s book. But he shouldn’t have left these unfounded and misleading assertions go unchallenged. And he’d do well to correct something else he got wrong: Michael Gerson is not President Bush’s top speechwriter. Gerson has departed the White House. It was announced in June.

But that would mean we should expect KO to practice good journalism. Didn’t he cut out some key lines in a story about George Allen to alter its meaning? I guess KO had David Shuster write his script.

Maybe on Monday, Keith will name himself Worst Person in the World… Not!

He and David Shuster officially pulled out of the fair and balanced journalism treaty shortly after David moved over to MSNBC in 2002 or 2003. There are rumors, however, that the Countdown host had never actually signed on to the treaty.

I could make a crack about why KO “never signed the treaty”, but I can only go to the well with Olbermann insults so many times.
As much as I bag on KO, Shuster is an embarassment. I remember him waving that sheet of paper on the air and then screeching that Rove would be indicted with days. I also remember his bit that Hastert will resign within 3 or 4 days, or whatever he said.
We all can pick on networks and hosts, but how Shuster stays on the air is mystifying.

William:
He’ll blame all of this on a Rovian trick.

I can understand CBS 60 Minutes flogging some senational headlines to help sell a book cause they own the publisher of the book, Simon & Schuster. But Olbermann should know better and maybe check his facts some day. Kuo’s been singing this hymn for more than a year. The only news here is the book release tomorrow. Kudos to CBS for a great con job to roil up some buzz in advance of the book release. For a more reasoned analysis of what went on at the WH office of faith based initiatives see http://cpjustice.org/temptingfaith from someone who was working there same time as Kuo.

Keith has never been one to let little things like facts get in the way of his attacking someone so that people will notice him.

Just like when KO was crowing that he beat BOR in THE DEMO on Thurs for the first 15 minutes. True. But he fell off dramatically to finish in 4th in THE DEMO for the hour. I guess that fact was an inconvenient truth.
