Wednesday’s Numbers…
FNC continued its strong ratings performance yesterday nearly doubling the 2nd place network in every category. But there were some interesting side stories to watch. Amercian Morning, after suffering a dip in the ratings last week, seems to have steadied itself. Countdown had another big night, putting it in 2nd place for the hour…well behind The O’Reilly factor. CNBC’s Deal or no Deal repeats actually beat Coutndown’s Demo number and the 11 pm repeat beat CNN’s Broken Government, making it one of the few times CNBC came in second behind FNC in an hour.
Katie Couric gave Larry King a few hundred thousand extra viewers to play with. Lou Dobbs had a strong night for CNN. And, in an atypical development, the 11pm O’Reilly Factor repeat beat On The Record at 10 pm.

Once again, Olbermann beat EVERY show on CNN, including King.

In the all important, coveted illustrious key demo? Because he lost in total viewership to King.
Comment by Edward Schatz — November 2, 2006 @ 7:15 pm
Olbermann after all theses years is still a distance second to Bill O.Does anyone know if he has renewed his contract?
Comment by Arista — November 2, 2006 @ 7:18 pm
Wow-wee…CNBC had quite the night yesterday, with DOND and their (awesome) documentary.

The difference between Hannity and Colmes and Greta are overhwelming……….both in demo and overall viewership.
Over 400,000 viewers tuned out Greta’s show, and over 200 thousand were in the demo ratings.
I sent her a email lambasting her for her FLUFF celebrity pieces, while there is an election coming up and REAL news going on in the world, and she sent me a email back thanking me for liking the shows, and how people are tired of the “blood and guts” of real news (HER WORDS) LOL…whatta dumb biotch. Guess she doesn’t realize she works for a NEWS organization, and NOT some two bit celebrity channel.

Spud: If Katie Couric could give Larry King “a few hundred thousand extra viewers to play with,” how come she can’t get those people to come over to her own newscast, which is mired in 3rd place?
JustStatinMyOpinion: Although I also tuned out Greta’s interview with Sharon Osborne, I think these celebrity pieces are a one time thing, to coincide with her visits to Las Vegas and Los Angeles. I think your name-calling is inappropriate.

Edward, if you don’t believe the 25-54 demo which Spud reports for us every day is all important, coveted, and “illustrious”(???), then you should visit Madison Avenue, where the advertising rates for tv commercials are determined.

Dobermann will be in the 500,000+ area once elections are over, Maybe even in the 400,000+ area if the RATS don’t win anything.

Watch out JustStatinMyOpinion Ira is after you….SCARY…See how angry fnc viewers are!

What’s with all the animosity JSMO? How regularly do you tune in to Greta’s show? I get sick of hearing about all the missing people, but honestly - she has interviewed everyone from the First Lady and Bill Clinton to Bret Favre and North Korean experts on the current nuclear threat.
I think Greta has a wide range of topics and guests on her show. You don’t know what you are talking about.

Since when does Deal or No Deal counts as news? This would
never happen at Bloomberg. The November book actually
began on Thursday. It should be interesting to see the numbers later today.I am not sure if Nielsen uses the
same viewers for a full month or if the company uses a
set of different viewers for the November book.
Dudes chill! I think more data is needed to see if the daily
snapshot is indicative of anything that is really happening.
Isn’t this a year of election ? I want to see if this
continues post election before saying something is trending.
Sometimes there are weird anamolies.Call me cynical but
there is always a bigger picture.

Stud: Similar to Michael J. Fox, you must be off your meds!
My only point to JSMO is because she interviewed the likes of Sharon Osbourne and Celine Dion during a west coast swing, Greta doesn’t warrant being called a “b*tch.”
If that means I’m “angry”, so be it!

I am glad to see a bump up in the numbers for Fox and Friends.
And I have to eat my words about Gretchen. She has turned out to be funny and relaxed. Who knew?
Comment by cella — November 3, 2006 @ 3:52 pm
cella, I agree. I’m starting to like Gretchen as well. I like E.D., but hated the way she condescended toward Brian. But he and Gretchen get along just fine.
