MSNBC trumpets internet rating win…
MSNBC put out a release this afternoon noting its internet ratings win…
With 11.6 million unique visitors this week, NBC News continues to dominate the Nielsen//NetRatings weekly online rankings. During the week of October 23-29, MSNBC.com topped all other TV news sites including CBS News Digital Network, ABCNEWS Digital, CNN and Fox News Digital Network. MSNBC.com led CBS News Digital Network, ABCNEWS Digital and Fox News Digital Network by more than 8 million unique visitors each and CNN by nearly 1 million. Both of MSNBC.com’s broadcast competitors saw significant drops from the previous week. ABCNEWS Digital’s dropped 1.2 million unique visitors, a 28% decline and CBS News Digital Network dropped 261,000 unique visitors, an 8.6% decline.
As the elections near, interest in politics online continues to grow. The newly redesigned politics.msnbc.com page, powered by NBC News and The National Journal, saw a 25% increase in page views compared with the previous week. High video streams, nearly 14 million for the week, were driven by campaign ads and Keith Olbermann’s “Special Comment” segments. Comprehensive election coverage in the coming week includes the Democracy Dashboard, linked off a dynamically refreshing results panel on the MSNBC.com cover page, it delivers a full spectrum of real-time results, including a map with state-by-state results, and returns on Senate, House and gubernatorial races, organized down to the county level. Contributors to NBC News’ political blog, First Read, will blog live through Election Day, tracking developments and the untold stories across the nation. Video on MSNBC.com will include a live stream of MSNBC TV’s coverage through the day and evening, and morning-after results and analysis. In addition, the “Hot Switch” will provide the best feeds coming in from NBC affiliates across the country.
