MSNBC advertises Hardball College tour and takes a shot at Larry King…

The MSNBC promo team really outdid themselves this time. There’s an ad for tonight’s Hardball College Tour with Robert DeNiro and Matt Damon airing on MSNBC. It turns out that Larry King has the same guests booked for later on tonight at 9pm.
Well, not wanting to miss an opportunity to promote Hardball and zing King at the same time, MSNBC came up with a creative ad that starts out with a TV picture of an elderly gentleman in suspenders talking, “well she starred in more 1960s sitcoms than any other actress of her day.”
This is followed up with a voice over that begins “Yeah, that’s one way to do a celebrity interview. then there’s the Hardball College Tour way!”. YouTube has the video…

YouTube? MUST see this…

This ad was hilarious. Who played Larry King? One of the behind the scenes people at MSNBC? It wasn’t live, thus the clips in the ad. When was it taped? Sunday night?

It was funny but more suited to a SNL skit than an ad in my opinion. I’m not a fan of all of this bashing our rivals business.
