O’Reilly vs. Roanoke Times’ Editorial Page

The Roanoke Times’ Erin Hutkin writes about the little to do between Bill O’Reilly and Roanoke Times Editorial Page Editor Dan Radmacher that got started when Radmacher wrote a column on the “War on Christmas” and Bill O’Reilly. (O’Reilly is still on his case as of last night)

Interviews with three local TV stations. Calls from readers. E-mails from everywhere — and a voicemail message from a friend joking he’s a “liberal loon.”

It was more reaction than Roanoke Times Editorial Page Editor Dan Radmacher expected from his Sunday column on the Horizon section front page.

The piece attacked the “‘War on Christmas’ nonsense” and cited TV commentator Bill O’Reilly as pushing it.

On Tuesday — on radio and on Fox’s “The O’Reilly Factor,” — the conservative host fired back.

  1. What fun! Needle a thin-skinned gasbag and get mentioned on national television! I can see this becoming a popular sport. It could even be competitive, with points for the number of adjectives O’R awards you and how red his face gets.

  2. BOR, The most feared man on tv hahaha. More people should attack him and then he should respond back. It’s like the talk of the town from the article I read. Good publicity for FNC and Factor.

  3. I live in Roanoke, and I’m stuck with that lousy rag. I’m not calling it lousy because it leans to the left. And it does tilt way to the left. Their coverage of the Allen/Webb senate race reached an absurd level of liberal bias. But even if the Roanoke Times was a conservative rag, it would still be a rotten newspaper. I wouldn’t use it to wrap fish.

  4. Arthur:

But it’s OK when KO gets thin skinned over comments at him and then says he wants to knife somebody?

  5. Yes, attacking O’Reilly does seem to be a popular strategy for getting noticed these days. Just ask Keith Olbermann, who received more attention from BOR’s shadow than from his own work.

  7. did I SAY that, Eddiebear? React to what I say and not to what your imagination invents that I MIGHT say, okay?

  8. O’Reilly is too thin-skinned but he raises an interesting point. Other than Michael Medved, I don’t personally remember reading any conservative film or TV critics. Although, in fairness, I do remember watching Ebert and Roeper when “Passion of the Christ” was released and they both gave it good reviews even though they often come across as socially liberal.

  9. TBDave, I believe you when you say that paper is a rag, just based on the column cited here. They speak of the fact that O’Reilly is upset about what was written therein, but they give scant details as far as what was specifically said.

I learned no more about the dustup after reading the article than I did from just scanning the headline.

  10. Missy, Here

Idiot is saying BOR made it all up for ratings or to deflect attention from the sex talk incident.

When someone attacks you, you attack back, That’s my opinion. Unless you’re doofy loser Dobermann looking for ratings. Then you just leave that loser alone, let him tire himself out lol.

  11. Lurker, thanks for the link.

And OMG! This guys IS an idiot, with a haircut reminiscent of Moe Howard! Or maybe he gets a bowl out and cuts his hair himself. He is DEFINITELY confrontational, and a condescending, crude jerk who deserves to be called out.

Maybe Trump can sue him too!
