Matthews vs. O’Reilly…

Newsbusters’ Rich Noyes notes that Chris Matthews on his syndicated show nominated Bill O’Reilly for “Worst Despot”…

During the year-end awards edition of his weekly syndicated chat show, Chris Matthews asked his panel to vote on the “Dangerous Despot” of 2006, and then listed the nominees: North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il, Venezuelan boss Hugo Chavez, Iran’s nuclear-seeking threat Mahmoud Ahmedinejad — and Fox News Channel host Bill O’Reilly!

“How in the hell did this guy get in there?” Matthews asked in mock surprise as O’Reilly’s face popped up next to America’s worst enemies. “How did he get in there?”

  2. O’Reilly is a danger to Matthews and his pitiful cable network, that’s for sure!

  3. Why would anyone bother watching MSNBC? All they do is talk about Fox News.

No surprise to see Dan Rather doing Chris Matthews, but still can’t find time in his schedule to do O’Reilly. I guess all Dan can handle these days is softballs. What a coward.

  5. FOX’s competitors hope to double their viewers by piling on FNC & discredit them, then split up their numbers between themselfs.

  7. Both Olberman and Mathews are seemingly taking on the night time version of “The View”.

Much to their detriment…same as the afternoon version

ICN has all types but lately the other voices have been relatively quiet. Whatever happened to Tanne?

  9. Unless I’m mistaken, this happened on Matthews’ syndicated show and not on Hardball, so I’m not quite sure why MSNBC are being criticised.

Secondly, what was the actual context of this ‘award’ (I don;t watch the show)? I take it O’Reilly’s inclusion was actually a joke. I’m not really sure that Newsbusters is the most balanced source out there.

  10. If O’Reilly’s inclusion in that list was supposed to be a joke, then Chris Matthews is on right par with John Kerry when it comes to joke telling.

  11. Just more childish, unprofessional behavior from an irrelevant and inferior network, with 3rd rate pundits.

  12. This won’t end until people like Matthews can recognize evil, which I’m afraid won’t happen until something truly terrible happens that makes 9/11 look like childs play.
